Deciding Between Two Extracurriculars

I’m having a little trouble filling in the 5th spot on my list of extracurriculars and would like some advice.

I’m trying to decide between the following:

Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse - A program where I took an oath to remain drug/alcohol free, give presentations to middle schoolers, and act as a good role model.

Columbia University Science Honors Program - A somewhat prestigious program that shows my interest and devotion to science and academics.

It’s really tough to answer which one I think is more important to me, because both show very different traits and aren’t very easily comparable. Personally, I think that VAASA might show a little more leadership and service to the community. My parents think that VAASA is too common and the Columbia program shows more success.

Any suggestions for which may be better to put in the end?

You can put either one as MIT gives you additional space at the end for any other information. Maybe you can put what you didn’t there. Another way is to talk/mention one of them in one of your essay. This way it gives your activities some kind of substance, along with what a MIT admission officer told me at MITES this summer : “Show us, don’t tell us”

What where the other four?
