Deciding where to apply

Hi everyone!

Would it greatly hurt my chances of admission if I applied to basically most of the Ivies and a few chancy back ups (i.e. Uchicago, Stanford, Pomona, perhaps NYU and perhaps WashU)? I realize that all the colleges see where else you will be applying to and I've heard a few stories with complete rejection, which I truly don't want to experience.

I can supply any more information about myself if needed.
Thank you!

Applying to all the Ivies will show nothing, but that doesn't mean you will also have a higher chance of being accepted.

Lots of people do it. However, it may be evident that you don't have a passion for a particular school. Though the different schools won't necessarily know where else you're applying to.
