Decision is in!!

Has anyone gotten acceptance through a letter? When I called U Mich, a woman told me that decision was made and I will get a letter by Friday… Is this mean I am deffered/rejected ?? ;;; She also said that I will not be able to check decision on wolverine access…

deferred
OOS (mass), w/ 3.5 UM GPA and 2370 SAT (single sitting)
6 APs (most my school offers) and 1 independent study
excellent ECs and essays (apparently)

hmm…

Yujung: Not to be repetitive, you are probably deferred (you have much company)…The reason why you cannot check WA is because they only post if a definitive decision was made (according to UMich admissions as of Friday).

VC08: Not being bitter or sarcastic, but seeing the results here, would you advise prospective applicants to forget about rigor of curriculum; standardized tests and "go for the class they could definitely get an A in (vs a B+ or B) I have been asked that question alot, but only with Michigan would I possibly reconsider my previous response…

Michigan places a lot of emphasis just on secondary school in general, more than the SAT/ACT. I had a fairly low ACT, but had a 4.0 umich GPA with 10 APs by the end of this senior year. A good strategy would be to take less APs 10th and 11th, and take a lot senior year. Therefore the GPA is high, and you still have a rigorous course load, especially for senior year.

Gebrselassie: good advice; the fact remains that even if you have done relatively well for your own high school environment (top 5-10%), grade deflation makes it very difficult to be admitted…

deferred…

33 ACT
3.4 UMich GPA (with 6 APs though, 5s on all, and all honors classes)
one amazing rec, really good essays, really really good ECs

its a shame they don’t look more at rigor of courseload. O well, im in ED at a much better university that actually took more things into consideration than my UW GPA. Peace guys!

^^Just because you got deferred doesn’t make W&M a “much better university”…however judging by decisions it seems like they are putting a TON of weight on the UW GPA (like I can’t believed daaaance didn’t get in). I did get in however, with a 3.5 and 31.

yes it does…jkjk…but let me vent this hit to my ego even though it really doesn’t change anything.

deferred.
3.9 uw gpa
amazing ECs
ACT 27 :/

can you even get rejected if you apply early? just wondering…

Chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/429831-usc-umich-uf-uw.html

The deferral was in the mail today. More waiting!

does anyone know if a single rejection? seems like everyone was accepted or deferred. Are there any stats on the acceptance rates of these deferrals. In other schools, the admission officers seems to say that most of the deferred candidates will eventually be accepted. Appreciate your responses

defer from michigan by snail mail

sending in my app soon, chance me please:

asian male from an extremely prestigious OoS hs (ranked top 20 in the recent us news report rankings)

umich gpa is 3.7 about
29 acts
good ecs (tons of comm service, two internships, online course at harvard)
really good rec and solid essays

rodney: i see what your point is, and it is hard to argue with. however, i would NEVER advise someone to only take regular classes just to maintain a 4.0; that is not what mich is looking for. they want students who have consistently succeeded at a high level, which usually means getting a 3.8+ with multiple AP classes. the system is never going to be completely fair, but i pride mich on looking at 4 years of coursework instead of 4 hrs worth

ACCEPTED (notified by email 12/13)

Out of state
Male, mexican american, caucasian
SAT 2290 composite
SAT II: Math 800, Biol 800, Chem 790, History 720
AP 5: Biol, Calc BC, USH. AP 4: Macroeconomics.
GPA: 4.5 approx weighted. All honors and AP classes. 4 AP classes Sr year
EC and awards: 4 yrs varsity tennis. 4yrs concert band, pep band, jazz band. Significant community service, National Hispanic Scholar finalist
Recommendations: Good, I think.

deferred

probably because of my low GPA(3.4 UMich UW GPA) and SAT scores
For most of my core classes, I mostly got B+…
Since I’m getting A’s in my classes right now, I hope there’s better chance for me at regular
My Sat score was CR:660 M:780 WR: 580 (really low essay score)
one so-so essay, one humorous essay and one essay that’s solid
great recommnedations ECs good, have done research at laboratory for three years

congrats to all who got in!

Hey guys… I’m new to the Mich forums so I apologize if this question has already been asked…

If I haven’t heard yet from Mich (no link is available on wolverine access) does it mean im looking at being rejected/deferred?

APPLICATION DATE:10/30/2007

Thanks.

probably deferred, that’s what most people are getting around now, good luck!

I think there will still be one more round of acceptance on Friday so you still have a chance.

Does anybody know that if I received an invitation to audition at the school of music, theatre and dance if that means I am accepted to the University itself or if my acceptance is based entirely on my audition and music school decision? I received a letter saying they had reviewed my application and my additional information and that they invited me to audition, and I’m just wondering if I am accepted to UMich. Thank you!
