Decision Letter Text

I thought it would be interesting to read other people’s decision letters, so copy and paste some or all of your acceptance, waitlist, and rejection letters.

Middlesex, Waitlist:

Dear X,

After much deliberation, the Admissions Committee has decided to offer you a place on our Wait List. I realize that this will be disappointing news, but please know that we recognize your many strengths; unfortunately, we are unable to offer admission to all those students who are worthy.

We know how difficult waiting can be, but we hope you will decide to remain on the Wait List in the event that a space becomes available. The Wait List is unranked and, although it is impossible to predict the outcome, we have accepted a handful of students from it in past years. If we are able to offer you a space, we will be in touch with you regarding the details.

While you may remove your name from the list, we encourage you to remain on the Wait List if your interest in attending Middlesex remains strong. In either case, please indicate your decision on the form you will find at this link: click here

You may also email us at admissions@mxschool.edu.

On behalf of the Admissions Committee, I want to thank you for the time, thought, and care you put into the entire admissions process.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Deerfield, Rejection
Dear X,

After completing a careful review and discussion of your application to Deerfield Academy, I am sorry to report on behalf of the Admission Committee that we are unable to offer you admission for this September.

Each year Deerfield has far more qualified candidates than we have spaces available. Unfortunately, this situation means that we must turn away many students whom we would like to enroll and whom we know would work hard to do well at Deerfield. Our Admission Committee, consisting of admission officers and teachers, carefully evaluates each application and has to make many difficult, even painful, decisions. We take this responsibility very seriously, and you can be sure that your application was given full and thorough consideration.

Although this letter may be disappointing, I hope it does not lessen your determination to gain a good education. We appreciate your interest in Deerfield Academy and wish you success at the school you choose to attend in September.

Sincerely,

Exeter, Rejection

Dear X,

The Admissions Committee has carefully reviewed your application for admission to Phillips Exeter Academy. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you admission to Exeter for the Fall of 2014. Please be assured that your application was reviewed at length and with great care.

We want to thank you for your interest in Exeter, and wish you every success in your future endeavors.

By agreement, the members of the Ten Schools Admissions Organization will discuss decisions starting March 15. If you have questions, please hold your communications until that date. A formal letter will follow in the mail.

Sincerely,
