<p>Well, I wouldn’t say it’s random. You need to take into account all the different groups. International students, children of alumni, coach-recruited athletes, geographic outreach, ED applicants, diversity, etc. Like all very selective, liberal arts colleges, Lafayette has to do a lot with its entering first-year class of ~600 people. There isn’t a “one size fits all” thing going all.</p>

<p>Plus, the fact that one person got a scholarship with lower SAT scores than someone who didn’t shows that they don’t just care about one thing. It isn’t just grades or SATs or recommendations. It’s you as a whole person.</p>
