I’m an international student with a 1410 SAT,and 4 GPA.What are some great universities to apply early decision? I was recommended Middlebury, but do I have chances to get into Amherst? Or,should I retake the SAT(I know I can get a 1500+) and try to apply regular to a better university?
Some of my extracurriculars are: member of a volunteering club for 4 years, spent a summer as a translator ,took part in national competitions, helped with the organisation of my high school’s anniversary festivity, model NATO and community service
Many colleges are test optional this year, even for international students. If you can retake the SAT and do very well, it would be a data point in your favor. However, there is no guarantee that it would tip the scales in your favor at Amherst or at any other highly selective college.
Your ECs appear to be what we call “average excellent” - strong, but not a national-level standout. It’s respectable enough, though, that you could take a shot at Amherst.
With your history of service, Marquette in Milwaukee, Wisconsin comes to mind as a possible match. They value that.
