I received an e-mail from Brown saying that I should check my decision at 6PM EST. I was wondering if the time I received had anything to do with my decision. Is 5PM EST for accepted students and 6PM for waitlisted students and then 7PM for denied students?

Definitely not. This has been discussed to death. If anything, there may be a correlation between time and the applicant’s region.

There will be accepted students at 5, 6 and 7 PM.

Yes, this has been discussed to death, resurrected as a zombie, purchased by Valve, discussed to a bloody pulp, and put into Chuck Norris’s protein shake.

There is a search button for every forum. It doesn’t have a Sexually Transmitted Disease; using it will not result in any negative effects.

What if we haven’t gotten an email yet…haha.

Brown seems to email every applicant. n0vad3m0n, I’m afraid you didn’t submit all requirements.

Ahh I know this topic has been discussed “to death”, but I can’t help but feel nervous because I thought before that my admission decision will be released at 5pm EST, but I just re-read the e-mail and it states that my decisions won’t be available until 6pm EST. Does this mean anything? Why did Brown split up the applicants into three groups (5, 6, and 7pm)? Simply to avoid a server crash? Does anyone have any idea on how they split up the applicants? Or do you think it was just by random draw…

People are saying “to death” to death.

They would have emailed you well in advance if parts of your application were missing. About 5% of emails don’t go through due to technical errors, like a misspelled email address, full inbox, spam filter, etc. Whatever the case, you’ll get a letter in the mail in a few days anyway.

Brown said in the email they aren’t sending letters this year, so I would call the admissions office ASAP and see why you didn’t get an email. Probably just a technical error, but I would check.

^I agree with Colleenie. Brown said that decisions are available online only, and for a certain period of time (it won’t be there forever, for you to look at). Call admissions and get the issue sorted out.

Yeah, this is just proof that the application times do not matter.
My sister got in to Brown and her time was 5 PM, a friend got in and her time was at 7PM, while I know another person that was rejected and her time was at 5PM (:
Hope that helps.

That helps a lot nellyata!

Just to check back in with this thread. I was wait-listed at Brown and they told me to check my decision at 6pm. I don’t know if there’s a pattern (probably not).
