Decision UCD...from OOS

Here’s the situation:

I live in Indiana. Due to unforeseen events, my plans for attending Decision UCD on April 4th were shot. I am thinking about trying again for the 17th, but already airline fares have jumped, and my parents won’t be able to attend this time. My parents are really the ones who would like to get a sense of the university.

Do you think that it is still worth the hassle to try and attend the events (example: there is some important “must-go” opportunity), or should I wait until another time? Is it crucial if you want to apply for the Davis Honors Challenge or BUSP?

Are there any alternative venues/forums for getting important information about UCD, such as a webinar like UCB did, or online chat?

Thanks for your help.

You could have your parents watch this video:

You and your parents could also email the department head of the major that you applied into.

Thanks for the links collegemom16.

Unfortunately, the Facebook links for that user’s photo albums are defunct. I’ll ask that person if he/she can re-post the albums.

Oh sorry I should have checked them first. Too bad because they were really nice. I’ll search the forum and see if I can find any that work. :)

Let’s see if this link works.

thanks for the link!

You are welcome! I’m happy to help. :)

You don’t really have to go. I went on the 4th. There just tours around campus and dorms.

“Just” tours around campus? Life in Indiana is not quite life in CA, much less in a college town in CA. It’s a good idea to go, but if money is really a problem then you (and your parents) can always wait until orientation and make some good friends who can show you around!
Join the Facebook group for UCD class of 2013, ask questions. Take advantage of technology and social networking :)

Wait, you want to go to Davis on the 18th?

[Picnic Day 2009 - Davis Wiki](http://daviswiki.org/Picnic_Day_2009)

Not only is it the biggest student-run event in the country, it will be our centennial celebration. You will probably be amazed, but it will be nothing like it is on a day-to-day basis due to an additional 50,000 visitors. Just letting you know.
