Breathe Terps 9, breathe!!! ;)

Are we going to find out about LEP, Honors/Scholars, and Scholarships too

from the UMD website regarding merit scholarships:

“Merit scholarship award notifications begin in early March and continue through April. For some scholarships, a student will be invited to campus for an interview before receiving notice of an award. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail.”

m4dskillz07 – I posted this yesterday morning, but I know it may have gotten lost among the panic of whether or not decisions were posted. You’ll find out LEP and Honors/Scholars, but not scholarships yet, as kokeshi said.

(from yesterday):
I know the waiting is hard, guys, but have patience. It will come soon. Assuming they haven’t changed it much from last year (I don’t think they have), if you’re admitted, this is what all you’ll see on the screen:

Congratulations, [name]!

You have been admitted to the University of Maryland for the Fall 2010 semester!

We are pleased to welcome you to our world-class research university. Your exceptional talents and achievements will enhance our academic community of scholars and leaders. You should be proud to call yourself a Terp!

In addition, you have been invited to Honors/Scholars/etc

Please find your Academic Major and Residency Classification below.

Major: [Major will be here. If your major is an LEP, it should be listed here if you got into it, or just into the college in general, where it would say Letters and Sciences].
Advising College: [Whatever college the major is under]
Maryland Residency: [resident/non-resident; just IS or OS]
University ID Number (U_ID): [xxxxxxxxx]

Its deff gonna be tomorrow (friday). Sometime from like 5 to 12 midnight -ish. After the admissions office closes for the weekend. I can tell you all right now that the decisions are sitting on a web page that we just cant access right now. as soon as they close the office, (assuming there are no surprising problems with the web page) the current link on the website will be directed to the new decisions page.

They just dont want to deal with angry parents, kids, or people with questions about what to do next. They need to give the weekend for everyone to relax and to figure out everything on their own.

WHy areyou so sure? Do you know someone who works there?

Well, I would think decisions would be released tomorrow too, given that for the last two years, decisions were posted on Fridays. Also, I still find it very unbelievable that decisions would be posted on a weekend. Though everyone seems to be saying that admissions are saying decisions will be posted on Saturday, Collegeparkplz’s explanation for why that is seems very reasonable.

I really hope they come out tomorrow.

that makes sense…

for anyone who lives like an hour or so away from UMD, you should get the letter three days from when it was sent (which SHOULD be tomorrow if they were really sent on the 26th).

I know I went to camp that is an hour away from my home and UMD is like 30 minutes away. I got letters at camp from my parents three days after they sent them.

^^ Mail from UMd. usually takes a day, maybee two to get to my house. My sister goes there and my dad went there so we get a decent amount of mail from them. I live ~25 mins away. So I don’t think they sent them on the 26th.

However, one of my facebook friend’s status says that he just called and they’ll be mailed Saturday and will be online at 12AM Saturday…

does that mean in like…56 minutes?

no, saturday at 12AM. meaning tomorrow at midnight. hopefully! =/

I probably shouldn’t get into the school given that I can’t tell the days of the week.

hahahaha. it’s ok, it happens. just blame it on being anxious :)

I just checked the online notification thing on the UMD website just to see if they screwed up the midnight thing too and if the decisions were accidentally posted. They obviously weren’t. I’m so nervous, I’m going to go insane constantly hitting the refresh button over the next (hopefully) 24 hours. Luckily I have a laptop with wireless internet in school for tomorrow.

Don’t worry, I had to double check with my mom that 12AM means midnight, not noon. Hahahaha. Fail.

What is the deal with the Freshmen Connection program?? what grades do you need in order to be accepted there??
