FYI – admissions doesn’t decide honors/scholars/etc. They just pass on the applications to the programs, who then do their own independent review.

My daughter was accepted into the spring session. Does anyone know where I can find the pros and cons to doing this. When does she have to let them know. Thanks

Neocutey – we heard this at the presentation for “talented students” in October.

Phillydad – they are completely different. She got into Chemical and Life Sciences and then, separately, got into Scholars. She should receive a letter in the mail soon from Graig Stewart, the director of the Scholars program. Basically, she can decide which of the scholars programs interests her, and it doesn’t have to do with her academic major at all.
Does anyone know anything about the freshman connection session set up for kids accepted into the spring session? Any info would be helpful. Housing isn’t available so I’m wondering what be like for my daughter. We live in the Boston area so don’t know the UM area at all.

I don’t know much about the program but there are a couple of apartments near the campus I believe as well as a metro stop. Though College Park isnt exactly the nicest or safest area around

buster12: there’s a thread about Freshman Connection going on at the moment here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-maryland-college-park/857602-could-someone-please-explain-me-about-freshman-connection-program.html

CountingDown, this talented students program: are the students invited projected to be in that top 25%?
