I’m a Florida high school senior currently working on my early admissions for colleges and I am planning on majoring in mechanical engineering. I have heard and seen that STEM majors are much more difficult to get accepted to at UF and have been given advice by rising college freshmen to choose a more obscure major (like anthropology) and then switching to engineering once I get accepted. Is this advice valid? If it is should I apply with anthropology or a different, yet similar, major?
