Are there any other forums about DS that you are familiar with? I’ve only seen this one and Reddit.
At the bottom of page 9: “Our applicant pool increased from 250 last year to 828 this year, partially due to advances in and the use of Artificial Intelligence tools. This is certainly an issue ApCom will need to think about and address in the coming years.”
My guess is that 100–200 applications will be thrown out as blatantly AI written.
There was a discussion on a Discord a while back (Reddit - The heart of the internet) but don’t know anything else and it’ll occasionally come up on miscellaneous college forums.
Yeah thats exactly where I found it. Reading that definitely made me nervous because its just such a small group that even make it to the second round. I think the lack of information about the students admitted and their profiles makes it hard to know what I feel like I’m up against. Theres not a single student in my high school district that has gotten in over the last decade+, even though several have applied.
There aren’t a whole ton, mainly just college confidential, reddit, and discord. I was thinking about creating a discord server for people interested in/applying to Deep Springs College. Would anyone be interested in joining?

Apart from this forum there’s actually been a pretty significant increase in coverage on DS. There was a Financial Times article that got it some attention
I’ve noticed its been getting some attention from some conservative/rightwing povs as a kinda pastoral Americana moral and values based sanctuary from culture wars or whatever

somehow made it to the second round! was in complete shock after reading the acceptance, i didn’t think my essays were up to par with what i usually write. anyone here advancing??
Yes, I was literally under the impression the email was for someone else - I definitely did not take the time to polish my writing and I didn’t think it was super intellectual, just a raw reflection of me and I guess they liked that! I’m looking forward to hopefully meeting you but also a little nervous for the in-person round!
Hi, I also made it along with two others on the Discord. I felt like I was going to get an email all day yesterday being like “whoops, we made a mistake.” If you guys want to talk at all my username on there is the same as here
