<p>I think they have three “permanent” professors (one each for sciences, social sciences, humanities), as well as a couple of visiting scholars, which only stay for one semester.</p>
<p>as for why they would want to be there?</p>
<p>why do people join the monestary, the army, the merchant marines, why do people live in the woods…to each his/her own</p>
<p>I don’t know about the school but will do some quick reading as I am curious but the idea that it is weird to be in a small community,it is not odd at all…for as long as there have been humans, people have done that</p>
<p>The Deep Springs experience would probably be one of the worst ever for many people, including myself, but, as many other people have commented, its academic structure is intense, and following graduation you can pretty much write your ticket to any 4-year institution in the country. Some people would prefer the isolated, all-male environment, see it as a personal, non-distracting learning experience. I wouldn’t survive, but that’s just me.</p>
