It is. Why would you wnat to put yourself through “20 dudes on a hill”

You are a bafoon.

It is by no means the worst school ever, far from it. Graduating from there is essentially an automatic ticket to any school in the country (that shouldn’t really impact the quality of a school, in my opinion, but it’s a testiment to the school’s legitimacy)

It certainly isn’t the school for everyone, in fact, not many people can probablly handle it (myself included), but to say it’s the worst school ever is a complete and total joke.

Unfortunately I am not a guy…

why would anby guy want to spend 2 yers in his prime working on a farm with all guys…

Most people wouldn’t want to attend military academies either, yet they are also exceptional schools.

A friend of mine went there and said it was one of the best experiences of his life. It’s exclusive and you learn a lot. If you don’t know a lot about it, don’t knock it.

The OP is just strange…
He was saying something similar about Wellesley and why any girl would want to go to an “all girls school.”

FYI footballyus2345, classtime is not the time to look for dates. If you want a date, you can go out after school and find one.

Deep Springs is one of the most exclusive, prestigious schools in the US. Stop talking bad about schools that wouldn’t even be guaranteed to accept you anyway.

I’m not sure how you would find a date in Deep Springs after class. You’re hours away from the nearest datable girl and town, and I don’t think you’re even allowed to leave the place (except for sunday church).

One person’s Hell is another’s Heaven. Deep Springs sounds like an incredible challenge and an incredible experience to me. If I were still young and about to enter college, I’d certainly apply there. Considering that they only take 12-13 kids each year, chances are slim for everyone, but what an experience!!!

What is the experience at Deep Springs like, anyways? I’m not male, but I’m just curious as to what kind of experience it provides.

If I was a guy, I would have definitely applied to Deep Springs. I was born and raised on a farm and love the solidarity and also the family bonding. My brothers are the strongest people I know and it’s because they grew up on a farm. <<<I won’t be surprised if someone takes that the wrong way and I get flamed for it.

My dad is a high school wrestling coach here in Iowa and year in, year out believes that this holds true: “A city kid may beat a farm kid on the mat or in the room. But he sure as hell won’t outwork the kid on the mat.”

Just my $0.02.

My brothers, both of whom entered the military, had Deep Springs on their college list until choosing to go military.

murkywater:

Deep Springs is a school in the drylands on the California/Nevada border. It’s a working ranch of many tens of thousands of acres. It’s basically free to go to school there (though there may be some minor fees).

The place was founded by a man who believed that one has to earn the right to intellectual pursuits with hard labor. As a result, Deep Springs is a working ranch. The school and the ranch are run almost entirely by the students. Students decide who gets admitted. Students do the books. Students do most of the ranch work, including a summer stint as a cowboy in the high country, butchering, farming, etc.

The school is only for two years, and the student body consists of 26 or so males. It is among the most selective schools in the world. Average SAT scores change from year to year, but it’s not unusual for Deep Springs to have the highest average test scores in the country, bar none. The average class size is four students, and student choose the curriculum.

They claim that 9 out of 10 students at Deep Springs get into their first choice college after two years. Most of the students go Ivy or to some other elite school.

All in all, it’s an experience like none other. If you’re the kind who likes the road less taken, and you’re an academic superstar with SATs in the 1500 range, it can be very, very attractive.

I remember getting a booklet from Deep Springs. It had a statement, if I recall correctly, from someone at Harvard (the President? the Dean? I am not sure…) about how the applicants to Harvard from Deep Springs are always incredible individuals and incredibly attractive students (academically, at least).

As said, Deep Spring graduates choose any school they want and are almost always accepted. It is no joke.

bob Jones U is the worst school ever

What qualifies you to say that?

why is everyone so obsessed with the best and worst?

Are there actually professors that teach or do students “teach” each other?

I heard that Deep Springs only admits white Christian males of pure-blooded Aryan stock.
