Deer Accident Update

I just wanted to thank you all again for your support regarding the bogus tickets my hubby got after our deer accident in PA.

He went to court this morning and was found “Not Guilty.”

Now I am praying he gets home safe and sound! :-)

Good. Fantastic. They now need to fire the state trooper. With all the budget cuts there are plenty of good cops who are out of work.

Yay! Thanks for the update. I’m glad that things worked out for him. Wishing for him safe travels home.

hooray! Justice prevails! So glad it worked out the way it should have…thanks for updating us.

That’s wonderful news! Now can you tell us where it happened, as some of us have to drive through that state?

Pengo, now that’s proper justice administered and sorry your DH had to waste his time going to court. I hope that the state trooper is reprimanded in some way!

I am happy for you, and I am rather surprised at the outcome. Well, at least someone out there finds some justice!

I would love to know the justification of issuing the tickets in the first place. What a scam! I am glad that you received an early Christmas gift!!!

That’s fantastic! Sorry your husband had to waste his time dealing with the mess. I’m so glad that he was proven “not guilty”. Now you can concentrate on having a wonderful holiday. :)

Glad to hear it all worked out. We hit a deer once - the police officer we called (didn’t want to leave a large dead deer in the middle of the road to cause another accident) was so helpful and did some sort of report for us to give to our insurance. He may have even taken a couple of photos and given them to us (before cell phone camera days). We were also out of state when this occurred, though in Nevada not PA. I think you were very unlucky with either the officer you got or the jurisdiction you were in, or both. Glad that did not happen to us as going back to Nevada to fight such a bogus ticket would have been a real pain.

If your husband is not guilty, then who killed the deer???

j/k, thought that was the most unjust ticket ever.

It’s a shame that he had to legally fend off so much unjustly induced pressure. Here in Fauquier, VA, per latest state fish and game estimates we have more herds running rampant than any other municipality in VA. Last Saturday a small, youngish looking specimen hopped off of an artificial incline and we missed it by about 12 feet.

In softened U.S. legal terms, such a collision accidentally provoked by wildlife is usually considered a mere “act of god.” It is absolutely outrageous that any one would have legal difficulties over such an incident. I personally would question the officer’s intelligence. Only a blaring idiot would ticket someone for such an event occuring.

Awesome. Congratulations! Maybe they’ll think twice about handing out tickets like that. Hope the office who did gets a reprimand.

Hope your H has a safe trip back…and then it’s time to have a nice glass of wine together (or tea if you don’t drink!).

Thanks for the responses. He did get home safe and sound. I have yet to hear the tale - I guess I’ll hear it during dinner.

NJRes - good thing I wasn’t drinking anything when I read your reply. (Although there is remorse that a creature was killed)

Toledo - it happened in Monroe County, near Blakeslee.

This was awesome news - second only to the ED response we got from Colgate: our son was admitted. I am still pinching myself over that one. I am black and blue . . .

I’m glad to hear this news! Congrats to your son. I love Colgate.

Pengo, congrats!!!
