i have been deffered by an ivy. i have done all that is needed to keep my deferral in the radar… just 15 days left for results.
will a letter from my Head master help to swing the deferral .
Only if the letter presents new information that would lift you above the 30,000 RD and deferred EA applicants. A letter reading “stressed67 is the brightest kid I’ve known in years” tells admissions the same thing principals across the country will write about their top applicants. A letter describing the way you captained a school team to a national or international victory (in sport, debating, napping, or whatever) while taking special care to help the youngest, most inexperienced, and most vulnerable members of the team, and inspiring dozens of students to take part in the activity in future years, could help more. Nothing’s certain to “swing the deferral,” except maybe a poorly written letter describing your recent trip to Oslo to collect a certain Peace Prize.
thank you very much. I am the founder and Chair of my foundation from the age of 12. I use my music talents to raise money to support education and training for under privileged or less fortunate of my peers in my community. raised more than 60,000$$$ for the past 6 yrs. my test scores are perfect. my grades are good.
my last option was to ask my HM to write and one other teacher…
I hope it could swing it…
I forgot to high light a very significant achievement in my common app . I gave the newspaper article but did not mention the strengths of it…
I forgot to mention that I am probably one of the youngest Op-Ed writers in a major news paper in the country–.
I gave the link of the artcle. but never stressed the fact that its a great achievement to be called by the Editor to write an OpED on inclusive capitalism-which is micro finance and passionate side of my learning.
opeds are most notably written by pulizter s senators, heads of state, presidents , prime ministers and authors and noble laureates.
it was quite an honor to write it.
I am deferred- so how can I bring this to the attention of the all the coleges. and especially my admission officer whom I know very well…
please help…!!!
How did you “forget” to leave off the foundation thing the first time round?
not foundation…
oped writer… I gave the link to the article. but did not mention I’m probably the youngest oped writer in the country to write for a major newspaperwriter
You seem like an extraordinary and talented guy, and college admissions can be absolutely crazy. We will never know why a university accepts a seemingly less qualified applicant in lieu of an ostensibly better one. But no matter where you end up, you’ll fork lightning given the things you’ve accomplished already.
thank you. that was very sweet. I hope and pray that they will consider and change my deferral.today I sent in a little note with some great stats on the age of oped writers and a debate from Ny times and huffington post on the lack of diversty and young voices as oped writers…
hope it helps my case…
