deferral update letter?

i got deferred by yale and i know i should probably send an update letter...but what should i write in there?

should i update them on awards/activities?
should i reinforce that i still love yale a lot and thank them for a second chance?

idk any advice?
it'd be great if someone could show me an example or something.
should i make it more like an essay or a letter addressed to an admissions officer?

I'd only contact them if I had additional information to share, such as winning an award or something else that's truly outstanding.

My sister was deferred by Yale when she did her apps back in 2004, and she knew she was still under consideration when we got a letter from their fin-aid office asking for updated family financial information. She figured that since they asked for it, she must have still been in their pool.

Be sure to have a good selection of backup schools in case things don't go as you'd like them to, and remember that you can be happy and successful at lots of other colleges if you make your mind up to be. Good luck wherever you end up!

thank you, swissmiss3 for the information!
just out of curiosity...when did your family get sent the letter asking for updated family financial information?

You can send updated grades, a list of awards won after the application deadline, or a supplemental essay.

I had to ask my parents and they don't really remember....they think it was sometime in February....but it's been years and they're not sure. Sorry they can't be more precise. Good luck to you!!!
