deferred at UCF

I got deferred from the university of central Florida for the fall of 2016.
My stats are
GPA: 3.1
SAT: 1640
reading: 540
writing: 550
math: 540

I was wondering what my chances are of getting in and what i could possibly do to improve my chances. If anyone has any personal stories that would be great

Your GPA and SAT are well below the 25th percentile of admitted students. you need to have a backup school or consider community college.

*How competitive is UCF?

For freshmen, the mid-range (middle 50%) of our Fall 2015 entering class was:
•GPA : 3.7 – 4.3
(recalculated academic core)
•SAT : 1190 – 1310
(critical reading and math)
•SAT : 1760 – 1940
(critical reading, math, and writing)
•ACT : 25 – 29
(composite)*

Have you looked at FGCU?

I’m not really looking fro recommendations to other schools I have applied and heard back from all of my other schools. Although, UCF is my top choice so I was curious about my chances on getting in.

I think your chances are fairly good, if not for Fall than Spring. They would probably like to see a higher GPA on your final transcript, so work on getting high marks in your classes for now. Certain majors are very competitive at UCF, like Nursing. If you’re think about a competitive major, you might consider retaking the SAT for a higher score. Good luck!

Both your GPA and SATs need to be higher. I would also like to know what your intended major is, as certain majors are very competitive. Where else did you apply/hear back from and what were the results? Good luck to you! My friend just got accepted and is hoping to attend in the fall!

EDIT: Could you share some of your ECs with us?

I applied for clinical psychology. I applied to Florida International University, University of Tampa, Montclair State University, Seton Hall University, and Barry University and have gotten accepted into all of them. My ECs include being a class officer and participating in my school’s varsity golf and bowling team.
