Hi all!
I applied to Vassar college early decision. It was my top school and I was pretty disappointed when I found out. I would love some advice with this. Has anyone ever gotten deferred and gotten in? I would love any recommendations or advice anyone has
Well first off, know that you’re not alone! In fact there’s another thread here on CC from someone else who just got the same news.
Best bet would be to start with Vassar’s CDS. Check the admissions stats in section C especially. They do break out ED applicants/accepted, so from there you can then back into an RD acceptance rate. Since you’re now in the regular pool, at the end of the day that’s the place to start to assess your chances.
From there, take a look at the various test and GPA data they report in the CDS. You should be able to find how your stats compare to their enrolled kids.
I’m 100% positive that the answer to your specific question, “Has anyone ever gotten deferred and gotten in?” is Yes. For sure.
Good luck to you from here on out!
You weren’t waitlisted or rejected. Deferral just means they weren’t ready to act.
Keep the faith but of course find other options in case - there’s lots of schools where you can have an equally great experience.
Thank you!! This was very helpful. I appreciate it!
If you love Vassar, you should seriously consider ED2 at Skidmore, if you love it basically as much.
Thanks! I actually toured there and didn’t love it. Thinking about applying ED2 to Middlebury but need to think about it a bit more.
If you ED to Midd and get in, then Vassar is out.
I don’t know your stats ir profile so I can’t say whether Vassar is realistic for you but a deferral is not a rejection. A waitlist is on the other hand - so your odds are very different etc. you were not rejected.
