If accepted we need to revisit! It’s definitely a top choice
Least appealing is January start.
Do they get a dorm if January?
Yes, in January…that would be tough for my dtr to miss all of the fall stuff.
There is an appeal process at Clemson if you are denied. Check their website for details. Looks like it is only if you are fully denied. If you are waitlisted or bridge/summer, you can’t appeal.
Just to share, my son did January start at U Miami and it was amazing…totally fine. We moved him down there in September so he could meet people and hang out on campus…he pretty much lived without any responsibility in Miami for 3 months! Lol. It worked out beautifully - didn’t feel like he missed a thing and met a ton of other spring starts. Don’t completely count it out in case it’s an option…
Great to hear…I think meeting ppl who are spring admits would be key for my dtr.
With social media it’s easy for them - that’s initially how my son reached out. They all met on campus in the Fall and that’s how he found a Spring admit roommate as well. It’s really not that long to wait to be honest - January comes up quick. I know the kids initially don’t like the idea, but it does work out well, and the kids blend in with the Fall kids - no one even knows or cares. As I explain this, I know my daughter wouldn’t love the idea either!
The only thing that could be a challenge is housing. I’m not sure about the housing situation at Clemson but Miami has its housing challenges.
And where do you find an apartment for 3-4 month lease
Yes can be challenging. We found an apartment and he just stayed there - and is still staying there with a roommate. It’s directly across from campus so worked out well. But yes, could be annoying if it’s not close by.
I was just looking at the historical data from D24’s high school for Clemson over the past 3 years. We are an OOS (Northeast) medium/large public high school. We had 108 kids apply to Clemson from 2021-2023. Not a single one was offered bridge. It was accept, deny or waitlist, with waitlist being by the most common outcome. There have been some summer starts, but no January starts that have been noted.
I did run into a guy recently from the next town over with 2 boys who go to Clemson. The older one loves it. The younger one was accepted bridge and wasn’t wild about it… but he feels better now that he’s fully enrolled as a sophomore.
I read that bridge is mainly for in-state and legacy.
I have heard that about bridge as well I heard originally was legacy and has since expanded to more in state
My current sophomore came through Bridge and LOVED it. It was a good experience for her…Some people didn’t care for it, but some didn’t care for full Clemson. It’s all relative! We are hoping for anything with my DD24!
Great info you found! How did you locate that specific data?
Any portal changes. I’ve got nothing on mine.
Nope!
Nothing…48 hours left. My goodness it was so much less stressful back in the day when they sent out letters instead!
There was no January start option last year for my current student. Is that something new?
No portal changes, unfortunately. Also waiting for mid-March results prior to any commit. This decision will help us eliminate some on our list. This is #2 on list to USC, like some others here. Spending the next couple weeks going to admitted students days for sites not seen to date. So far so good, my daughter has accepted some of her other options as good options that she would be comfortable with, and all hope is not lost if #1/#2 don’t come through. Good luck to everyone Thursday night! Hope it at least brings closure to a stressful process.
