So at this point I bet we all have had several days where we watched the clock tick down to when portals will update. How does everybody handle the moment of truth? Do kids open alone and then share, do they want you in the room? do they want you sitting next to them? With both my older girls it has been a bit different. My older one wanted me next to her, holding her hand. My middle one (who is waiting on Clemson today) likes my husband and I to be present but not over her shoulder and neither wanted to record reactions. I also do not have access to her portals so I can’t look for changes with you all, but if anything big happens today I will tell her to look! Would love to here how everybody experiences this very crazy time

For me, my entire family likes to be in the same room. I don’t LOVE it because if I get disappointing news, it’s embarrassing for me. But I do like the support that I get and hopefully tonight I’ll hear good news!

When it comes down to the actual date, I don’t check her portal anymore for hints. She waits for her email, or she checks the portal herself, and then she tells us the decision. I check beforehand to prepare myself for what type of encouragement or support she may need or to let her know if something is missing. If I figure it out beforehand, I don’t tell her. But she shares that moment with us. Good luck to all the parents and kids on this thread today!

Our USC portal hasn’t changed at all

I can barely pin my ADHD dtr down for dinner so I let her be…I do not let my excitement for the decision show much at all as I don’t want to make her anxious about it. I’m a hands off parent except for college admissions lol

It hadn’t changed other than the same…and I checked and we have a new Admissions rep so I wasn’t sure if that was why….but no more photo.

Ugh, just checked my daughters U of SC portal only to realize that we sent SAT scores but in her info section it shows that it is listed as “not considered” she must of checked that accidentally way back in October. We emailed admissions to see if we can change it. Her scores were sent and they are uploaded. I have a feeling they may have already finished with EA deferred kids. So at the moment she looks like a TO kid. She has a superscore of 1300, what do all think?

Did you all just get a email from Clemson?

I was accepted EA to USC and was TO, so you will be fine if your GPA is high and you have extras.

No, what does it say??

Todays the day! Cant wait to hear everyones results!!!

As far as how you or your kid does their whole finding out thingy- my daughter wanted it recorded just in case it was good. Obvioulsy had it been bad we would delete it but I will say having the good news on video was worth the risk because we have been able to look back and rewatch that moment over and over and its just a small but life changing moment in their lives. And something we can rewatch and relive in a small way. To each their own.

Side note- I truly wanted to open it first so that I could be prepared for the good or the bad, but the paws confetti that go across the screen only do that once from what I understand so if I had opened it first then I would have stolen that moment from her. So I decided we would deal with the results together at the same time.

That’s definitely an accident. Maybe email them back and ask?

What were your stats and major? My daughter deferred and it’s a top choice so she’s nervous

I will. They added a transfer application to my list of applications in my account. Don’t know why. Probably got a bridge program of some sort.
