Summer Start is a great program. My DS is a junior Business major at Clemson now and started as a summer student. He wasn’t thrilled about it when he got it, but he ended up loving it and met some of his best college friends there. He and his summer buddies all ended up going to different fraternities, but have stayed tight and hang out regularly.
We were hoping our applicant this year would get Summer Start! He got Bridge, and we’re happy with that. We know a bunch of kids who have done it with great success.
Is being waitlisted now the worst case short of a rejection? The letter still says Fall 2024 acceptance, summer start, and bridge are all still possibilities, so I guess that could be a good thing. But it also could just delay the inevitable rejection.
It’s best, whenever waitlisted (not just at Clemson), to move on with another school after sending a LOCI or update form (if they want it). And if they let you in later, great, but otherwise you can just go to your other option.
Are you the one with the twins? I’ve been wondering about the other twin
the 750 is an application fee that is non refundable and does not get blended or applied into anything else… its the app fee.
sorry about interjecting this… was responding to a post a long time ago,
I’ve seen a rejection in the other thread, plus we have a friend rejected too.
I am also wondering
A waitlist is a school saying they cannot accept you. I call it a rejection which is exactly what one high profile public school told my daughter. But people get mad for me saying so because it’s not necessarily the final decision.
So it’s not a rejection in this sense.
They feel you are strong enough that if not enough people enroll then they’d potentially want you.
You become a hedge for them or insurance policy in case they need more.
In the last CDS (2 years back) year they offered 5847 of which 2238 joined. 28 were admitted. But the year prior 243 admitted.
You never know.
But best is what @Ae1231 said - write your LOCI and move on to another that has shown you love. That’s the place to give your focus.
If they come back, then it’s a surprise but by then you’ve already found a roommate and fallen in love with the #2 school and it’s great anyway and if you stay with #2 then it’s the WL school loss.
Both mine were WL and when they got final word that they weren’t chosen, they didn’t care. They had long moved on and loved who loved them !!
Good luck
rejected also
OOS, 4.2W, competitive public HS, TO, 3 sport athlete, lots of community service, several APs. Not the place for us
Accepted! Today was a good day for DS
I could be wrong but it still seems like the ones accepted ended up at the higher end of their class ranking for those that shared whether they were accepted or denied can you share your class ranking and then if you were accepted or denied? That seems to be the biggest thing I’ve noticed.
I was accepted. Class rank 4/19 UW. School does not do weighted but if they did, I would be 1/19 by far.
We don’t rank but I’d guess 20% ish
My kiddo got rejected (he is ok, I think he is going to choose Purdue, just wanted to let waitlist people know- there were actual rejections)
Wanted to add our school does not rank, even if it did rank, he wouldn’t be in top 10 percent, but I am thinking still hurt him
I’m shocked! Clemson was a reach for my dtr, no doubt. I hope you all can move on to where you’re loved.
Accepted in December. Top 5% of 325 students unweighted, top 2% weighted.
I’m the twin! She was accepted, I was bridged
Bridge is great….my best to you!
