OOS <------

Umich GPA: 3.2 I’m not lazy, my school just deflates grades. It’s a tiny private school with very rigorous classes. In 10th-12th grade, 12 of the 16 classes I’ve taken have been AP classes and when the classes I took weren’t AP, it was because there wasn’t an AP class available.

My decision was never put on Wolverine Access. Is that normal for deferrals?

I’ve already sent them my grades, so what should I do now? I don’t know what the average stats for LSA acceptees are, but I thought I was ok except for my Umich gpa. I think my deferral letter is a “good” one because it has a yellow sheet telling me to send my grades ASAP.

Did you apply late in the game? I’m really surprised they deferred you with that SAT score and all those APs w/ 4’s and 5’s. Also, what is your rank?

It is normal for deferred candidates to only get a letter via snail mail and nothing on WA. I think those who get rejected have a “view decision” link on WA that says “decision in the mail.” If your updated grades are good I think you should get in.

I got deferred too and only got the deferral letter and nothing on WA. Our stats are incredibly similar too (exact math and critical reading sat scores but I only got a 690 on my writing section and my sat 2s were 790/780/730, 2 5s on my aps, and I had a low umich gpa–like 3.4–top 8%).

Wow, I guess UMich values GPA even more than I originally thought! Wow! That’s unbelievable.

“Wow, I guess UMich values GPA even more than I originally thought! Wow! That’s unbelievable”
no. They definitely look at the rigor of the high school big time, and in context within the high school, it’s been really obvious to me

uh… a kid at my school got accepted with about 3 honors classes only, so he is 30 ranks below me and his sats (M+C) is 1380. His umich gpa though was much higher than mine, but he’s never even gotten a A in an honors class at my school.

That’s a shame if admissions are really that GPA-driven even at the expense of a rigorous course load (which usually doesn’t appear in the profile for incoming freshman as opposed to GPA).

Unfortunately my school doesn’t rank and there are around 40 kids in my class, so, even in the context of my high school, I don’t look amazing. The grading is also really hard at my school. Most of my grades are B+s, which go down to 3.0s with the UMich gpa system. Does anybody know what the average stats are like for LSA admits?

What you beat in every respect and I got in. Probably because I kept in contact with them a lot! I am also OOS. HOwever I applied fairly early. I personally had a GPA of 3.7 and SAT of 1360/2050
