Deferred from Tufts

now that i look back i realize i may have not sent my sat scores/transcript/or teacher recommendation- at least some of them- my numbers were still great-but the system is still flawed.

If you applied ED, the issue of yield wouldn’t have mattered.

But yea, if you had sent your things in, I’m pretty sure you’d be accepted.

Send in your stuff, and you’re looking good for regular decision.

ninjaman, your numbers don’t even match up here!!!

you have given different sat scores, different nationality…but whatever

Well, in our school we talked about the existence of a syndrome. My friend got deferred, but she was not surprised. We just laughed about it. (She had great stats and will probably get into a better school).
Does Tufts publish Common Data Set? All decent Univs do. From CDS one can get an idea about the criteria for acceptance.

What exactly is this “tufts syndrome?” What might the symptoms be? :-P

it’s pretty obvious we see tufts in the working at hotchkiss, and that’s also what my friend from choate says

Since when is a 2230 just “decent”? What, is “great” (or “great great”) reserved only for the echelon of 2350 kids? Ridiculous.

we don’t even know if these scores are true- different scores were shared on different threads and the OP hasnt bothered to explain

if you are from the northeast (Maryland north to Maine), Tufts is EXTREMELY selective…keep this in mind before jumping to conclusions about their decisions…

It’s obvious why he didn’t get in. He can’t spell ridiculous.

and he can’t decide which race he wants to be

“Since when is a 2230 just “decent”? What, is “great” (or “great great”) reserved only for the echelon of 2350 kids? Ridiculous.”

sorry, at my school, 2230 is only around 75th percentile

it’s pretty obvious we see tufts syndrome in the working at hotchkiss, …obvious, almost all the top kids get waitlisted/rejected, while the 3.0-3.5 range has way over 50% admit rate… … and that’s also what my friend from choate says

To the OP: Judging by the tone and wording of your post,I’m going to go out on a limb here and bet that you were headed for the Fletcher School of Diplomacy at Tufts University. How did they ever let such a catch get away! It must be a mistake or racism or jealousy. How dare they relegate you to the likes of American University! The Horror! The sheer horror!

Lolabelle states “Tufts’ academic quality/reputation/students today match Cornell’s, Northwestern’s, Georgetown’s, Johns Hopkins’, etc.”

LOL ;-)

On what planet is she on? Maybe she drives around in dirty diapers, too…

“On what planet is she on? Maybe she drives around in dirty diapers, too…”

Although I agree that Tufts =/= Cornell, etc., there’s no need to be rude. (And there’s no need to be redundant, either – ‘On what planet is she on?’ …)

Show me the numbers where the stats of enrolled students at those schools are not nearly identical. I’ve posted them way too many times to want to do that again.

I got into all of those schools and picked Tufts. I know several students at Tufts who got into several of them as well and picked Tufts. And vice-versa. They compete in the same pool, especially for students interested in pre-med/sciences, history, polisci/IR/govt, etc.

Haha, thanks Kyle.

We still don’t know if the OP is giving us accurate stats…

By any standard,Tufts is one of the best schools in the nation. The IR dept. is fabulous and is only handicapped by the fact that it isn’t located in Washington D.C.

tufts engineering need to get their acts together if they want to compete with cornell or JHU tho
