I don’t think anybody was saying it was a harder major…but in some schools it is a harder major to get into…more select, if you will.
I agree with your point, though. I was a Chemical Engineering major, which is considered a hard major, but it wasn’t hard for me. I got worse grades in all of my out-of-major classes.

Would love any feedback you may have on the Mathematics program at UW-Madison. That is my daughter’s major of choice. She is admitted for Fall 2020 and we were at UW-Madison yesterday for another tour, etc to help her with her decision. While we were there had an opportunity to stop in at Van Vleck at the Math Dept Office. Which Mathematics route did your son choose when combining with double major CS? Did your son graduate and is working in CS now? I wasn’t sure if that’s what you meant.
