With the Application Form became available earlier today on the Common App, it appears that they removed the 300-word community essay prompt? I observed that they had made relevant modifications on their website, removing the instructions for the Community essay. When did they (if ever) formally announce that alteration? The prompt was still disseminated by the admission officers at an on-campus event over the summer.
Is it possible to still contact admissions office regarding self-report? I inputted my senior grades even tho semster 1 isnt over and as a couple as final. It says to email if its about DOB/Name/SS/etc. but mine is not about that.
I am waking up this thread. Scanning last year’s (which was really chatty starting in February), I am nervous seeing the stats of those who were rejected (really stellar stats). Anyhow, I pulled this from last year’s boards:

My S24 is a student there now for Environmental Engineering and absolutely loves it. We are OOS, and he had a 3.95 UW GPA and 35 ACT (which didn’t even matter there since they didn’t consider test scores). My S26 has applied also, but even if he gets in is not likely to go. Trying to do his own thing, I guess.

Been at this for a few years. I have a couple of kids there now. Plenty of info and discussion in prior year chats if you’re looking to kill time while you count down the days.
The best guess date/time for decisions is Thursday 3/12 just after 8pm (west coast time). The portals update first, then emails follow by 30 minutes or so. Very few decisions will trickle out before that (a handful of scholarships, etc.), but let’s say 74,900 of the 75,000 decisions go out within an hour of each other.
For those in-state students who are not in one of the two UW preferential groups, “under-represented minority” (or “urm”) and first-generation college students, it is very competitive. Especially for the most in-demand majors (e.g. business, computer science, engineering, among a few others). They define “under-represented” as not asian, and not white. For out-of-state students they don’t care as much about demographics. Like with most schools these are the students who really pay the bills for everyone, so they focus much less on need for these students. This is why you often hear “my son/daughter got into multiple top UC schools, but got rejected from UW”, and vice versa - because those schools work much in the same way.
Best of luck to everyone! If you are in-state and get into one of these top schools, take it and run! An incredible value. And also, don’t let these small admission departments define you. They often have competing motivations that don’t always align closely with academic achievements.
(also, they don’t really represent the universities themselves either - but that’s a longer conversation)

Makes sense about why so many kids last year (including my oldest) got into so many more UC but were waitlisted for UW. Washington resident, Asian, numbers all way above the mean.

Is the acceptance rate closer to 10% then?! I thought it was around 40
They have to accept (many) more students than the desired entering class size, because yield is not 100%.

I saw a post on Reddit that they got in already. It might be the presidential award. Last year, it was about 1 week after presidential award announced, the results came out for everyone. My son was at a club meeting and was not home but I found out from Reddit that results came out. It was very odd b/c it was a Wednesday and it came out at 8pm. Good luck to everyone waiting. It was torture waiting for the results. My son is a first year in the Engineering school and he is loving it there.

The poster on Reddit that I saw later clarified that they got in to Bothell, not Seattle.
