Deferred from Yale SCEA, chances at CAS?

Okay I got deferred SCEA at Yale but I wanted to know my chances at CAS. On the application i put down that my first choice major is math, but in the essay i said i was going to double major in math and economics, there just wasn’t an option for that on the supplement since both are in CAS.

Teacher Recs: both very good, one from a math teacher stressing aptitude in math and leadership, the other from a history teacher stressing critical thinking skills and leadership

Essays- for the most part good

Hooks- not really, income below 60,000 don’t know if that helps/hurts

^your grade are decent, but are prob the reason for being deferred. otherwise good ec’s. whats great for you is that ur income is less than 60k so u get free. imho, u wont get accepted, but u what other colleges r u applying to?

penn (wharton), bu, umass, and bentley

oh i know low income means that I would go for free, but do you think it helps my chances of getting in?

Independent of need, you have a fair shot.

i hope so, bump

I think you have a decent shot.

so I take it it’s really riding on my essays?

My son has also applied to CAS as a math major (+economics) and his stats etc. are almost identical to yours: Class Rank 4th/161; 15 hrs/wk @ grocery store; 33 ACT; 2020 SAT; 780 + 680 SAT II’s; two varsity sports, saxophone player in jazz band, and the NHS. He is in a different region though. His essay was about a decision he made when he was 5 years old. Good Luck and I hope that you and my son both get accepted!
