i’m not sure if we’re supposed to. bulldog, please help

I think you need to balance “showing continued interest” and being annoying and over-eager. I simply submitted the update form and it worked out for me. That’s just one story of the ~90 successes from last year’s deferred group. Do whatever feels right for you.

Maybe if you have little or nothing to add at this point, just a quick e-mail to say you’ll go if you’re admitted? I don’t think showing interest is useful, just because it’s obvious you’re interested otherwise you wouldn’t have applied. As all these colleges like a high yield, they may like it more if they know you will definitely attend if you get in. I don’t know, it’s just a hunch.

yeah, maybe we shouldn’t swamp them with emails. regardless, applications for the RD round have significantly increased, so we’ll be lucky if they take 50/593 deferrees. it’s an unfortunate situation to be in

@shuttershock Have they released RD numbers?

@Bulldog2017. The application numbers were released during Parents Weekend (this past weekend) by the Provost and the President. Let’s put it this way…it was a lot more than they expected! And many in the audience were in shock as we were. I will not divulge the actual numbers yet to give the school opportunity to formally release them…I suspect it will come out very shortly.

And @Shutterstock I am confident that the REA deferred pool will still remain highly prized with 15% from this select group still getting in…about 89/593 getting in…

@gravitas2, I sure hope you are correct. The numbers are very sobering.

hey guys, when you track your application on axess, what do you get as the status of your application? i’m kind of worried that my application is lost because i keep getting the “we are unable to provide you with the status of your application” message

I am worried about the update form. I got a likely letter from Columbia. Do I put that on there? Stanford is still the dream…

could somebody please check to see if you get a “we are unable to provide you” message from axess when you track your application? i’m scared my application accidentally went to the trash

@Britanorex

I would probably put that down! Just say something like “Although I have already received an offer from Columbia, Stanford is still my first choice.” It worked for me!

Cheers @Bulldog2017. I will try to include it subtlety.

submitted my update form, i guess a 10% chance is better than a 5% chance.

Happy March you guys! You’re almost to the end of this whole college application ordeal! In no more than two months you will have made your decisions and have plans for next year :)

I know these last few weeks can be quite painful, but keep your heads up! Even if you don’t get in, it’s really not the end of the world and I’m confident that you will all lead wonderful, successful lives no matter what the email says on decision day. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the last few months of your senior year :)

Also, I came across this video today and I thought is was really inspiring. How many days are you going to waste worrying? Go out, and ENJOY these days! Hang out with friends, go fishing, be outside, LAUGH.

I haven’t posted in this thread before but I also got deferred during the REA round. Just thought it may be interesting to start this thread back up since it’s just a few days before our decisions (finally!) How has everyone been fairing? Get any good acceptance/likely letters yet?

It sure has been a long wait, but we’re almost there! Applied to 11 schools, been accepted to two state schools, and the other 9 release decisions this week… So it will be an exciting week, to say the least. Good luck to everybody, and I hope to see some of you on The Farm next year!

Does anybody know when stanford releases decisions? I’ve heard March 28 at 3 pm - but on the website it says April 1st. Also, what are the admissions officers doing right now - like would they still be in the process of reviewing applications at this stage? Or have all the decisions basically been made by now? Argh so nervewracking!

Pretty sure it’s March 28 @ 3pm. Pretty much every college website says April 1st but will announce decisions earlier (It’s just to give them leeway.)

^Not really true. The Ivy League schools and UC system -among others- are pretty open about their decision notification dates. After Caltech defied its “tradition” of releasing on a certain date (the Saturday before pi day), I’m just going to wait for the email from Stanford.
