deferred students:(

yeahh…i got into university of michigan and georgia tech…and i got deferred here…makes sense. honestly i would rather have been outright rejected. this just says hey, you dont suck as much as some other people, so we’re gonna send you your rejection later, okay?

U-MICH is way better than UNC though. You should be happy.
I’m roughly in the same situation : accepted at U-Michigan, Tulane, Drexel and NC State
Denied at Duke
Deferred at UNC

yeah, but the worst part is that umich is kind of a tease bc i probably cant afford it anyway:(

@dudukiel Lol it is not WAY better. It’s ranked ONE spot above UNC, so don’t hate.

so last year, how many students who were deferred, eventually offered admissions?

acceptances and rejections do not measure your worth as a person.
being deferred or rejected does not mean you suck.
where you are accepted doesn’t change anything about you. the words on the papers don’t change your IQ or work ethic or anything else that truly matters.
what matters is what you do with the degree you earn. obviously the school you attend matters somewhat but what’s even more important is what you do with the knowledge you gain.

i know everyone says that so you’re probably rolling your eyes and ignoring this mini pep talk. but i have proof. have you ever heard of marc webb? maybe not, but i’m sure you’ve heard of joseph gordon-levitt, zooey deschanel, 500 days of summer and the amazing spiderman that’s coming out this summer. marc webb went to colorado college and majored in english. colorado college is not a prestigious school, especially not for film. but he went on to direct 500 days of summer (and work with joesph & zooey) and direct the amazing spiderman. he made his dreams come true even though he didn’t go to a top ranked college (not to say CC isn’t good). so, just remember, where you go to school isn’t nearly as important as the things you learn.
keep your head up (:

thanks for that:)
i just think some of us need to vent, complain and be slightly obnoxious for a while so we can get over this…

I was deferred, got into Pitt, Tulane, Drexel, and UMich. Also deferred at UChicago and UVa

If you follow the us news ranking, then umich is only one step above unc. But if you follow Forbes, it is 40 steps above. Also, depending on the major, I think that only unc’s bio is better than umich

@dudukiel You don’t think the Forbes list is a bit wonky? Yale under Haverford, Williams and U Chicago?
