Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

Lets have hope, they read a lot of apps so just stay faithful!!

When do you think more are coming out

Wait till april

I think a good amount of people will still hear something good. I might be speaking optimistically but I would guess only about 50% of seats have been filled already. A lot of other people haven’t committed yet so maybe be around 66%-70%. That still leaves over a thousand (and more since they obviously accept more people than seats, especially with a yield that is probs only in the 40%, that thousand could easily be two thousand) acceptances floating around. We still all have a shot. I am not going to waste my shot (lol I had to make that reference).

But don’t get hung up on UofM. Please enjoy senior year! A lot of great things going on in preparation of graduations like school sports, parties, and events. Go to them! UofM’s decision will be the same regardless of if you enjoy your last year of high school or not! Good luck!

It’s so hard to imagine myself anywhere else, but at this point I’m expecting a rejection. Not sure how I’ll deal with it. Anybody have tips for dealing with rejections

@rangersfan800 I’ve heard looking up “successful people who didn’t get into their first choice college” helps give some people perspective. The way I look at it is that I’ve grown so much as a person the past 4 years of high school so if my grades are lower or my ECs don’t match what UMich is looking for, that’s okay because I wouldn’t change the past if I could.

Also if you’re applying to schools like UMich you are probably fairly intelligent and can go to a great grad school by doing good during undergrad. You are much more than the college you go to, and what’s MOST important is how you handle your response to this rejection because it remains the only thing you can control.

U of M has been my dream school since I can remember. My dad went there, I did stuff there every weekend, I spent summers there etc. If I don’t get in, it would suck. But life goes on.

@renwa This. No matter what happens, c’est la vie.

So true. We all have to remember that life goes on

@renwa thank you :slight_smile:

Everyone!!! You don’t have to stay at your Freshman year college if you still want to go to U-M!! Go somewhere else, have fun, if not… switch out after a year! 3-4 people I know switched to U-M after their first year and it’s like they never missed a thing. This is really just a first year placement, not where you’re diploma will be from!

@KeepPerspective Did you get accepted?

My friend who goes to UofM has said that A LOT of her friends were initially deferred, she has heard people on the bus talk about how they were deferred so don’t give up hope or be dramatic! Everyone is going to be fine where ever you end up. Everything happens for a reason, and this is coming from a long time U of M-AA fan of academics not just sports (even though I love football), I have owned a Michigan law school shirt since I was 12! Everything is going to be okay, it’s not the end of the world :x

@alexacool10 Didn’t you get in on the last round? Or are you still waiting?

No I’m still waiting. I had the weird phone call with the tech guy when I got locked out of my WA and he said it happens when they put you into the system (which was seriously one little line of the convo), I’m still waiting but someone on here said that it sounded like I got in. I’m still waiting just like everyone else :smiley:

@UofMorMSU this is what I posted on feb 23

Just spent twenty minutes on the phone with tech support because I went to check WA (as I obsessively do a million times a day), and they said they had change my name and confirm my identity. I had to change my name to a more simple one and whatever and the guy was like well this happens when you are in the umich system and it was just a little thing but what does this mean lol!! My deferral hasn’t changed yet and I haven’t got any email. Just kinda weird that I had to confirm my identity… He said my friend account had expired don’t know if that is a good sign :slight_smile:

No, I didn’t. But still holding out hope. Either last year’s thread or the year before had a ton of people accepted end of March… kind of think most of us will know stuff by then.

@alexacool10 Oh yeah that’s right. Hopefully it works out for both of us. Also it seems like this thread is kinda dead.

@KeepPerspective If you look at last years thread, it seems like most people were waitlisted. I have a feeling we can look forward to a nice place on the purgatory of college admissions.

If you guys do get waitlisted (hopefully no one does), are you going to accept the spot or no? That is even more waiting on months of waiting. It would be like 2-3 more months at least.

Question… if we do get waitlisted, do they end up telling you if you are NOT taken off the waitlist? Or do they just leave you hanging
