Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

@michiganea2021 Left hanging

@UofMichigan1999 why not accept it? If you really want to attend Michigan you can accept the spot on the waitlist and then accept your backup school’s offer. Come June if you make it off the waitlist then that’s great, if not, you have a school to fall back on.

If we get waitlisted, are we not going to know our decision by May? If we wait for the decision, isn’t that we just decline all the other schools offers, and the decision probably is a rejection

@Zpower99 Right on all counts

I just checked their website, waitlist decisions come out in middle June…

Did anyone ever find out what it means if you never got a view decision link. You only got an email that requested more information. Anyone?

i have no more hope

I keep hyping myself up by finding out new things about umich and looking through different courses bc I am a weird academic combination of politics, law and justice, and music (I play classical flute) and umich just hits all the right notes (ha ha) with me ugh I just need a decision or else I am going to my other instate safety… which wants me to attend there a lot but Even with the scholarships I think I would still choose U of M if I had the choice. I want to go to a public school but I also applied to a few privates and a bunch out of state (10 in total), but they are all so expensive! Anyone in the same boat in choosing your dream school (if accepted) or a really really good scholarship offer at a not-so good school?

Hey so I saw that a lot of my friends that were deferred from Michigan got their responses Friday and Saturday. Should I have my decision back already or are there more waves of decisions coming for deferred students coming? Sorry if this is a stupid question I haven’t looked too much into it.

@alexacool10 me, I don’t really want to go any of the schools that I got in so far, even they offer lots of $$$. But I am excited for the schools I applied under regular decision, I would like go any of them if I get accepted (probably not going to happen) . :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@UsuallyTired there should be more decisions coming out on April

@alexacool10 I am. I have a full-tuition scholarship at a university 10 minutes from my house (so it’d be free since I wouldn’t have to apply for housing) but I would attend UMich if I got in no matter what. So really it’s either I get into U of M or I have to go to one of the “worst” universities in Michigan. Really sucks

So could we really get a response as late as mid-April?

@scubadiverman Yes

One question, not sure if anyone has the answer. My son applied to UM and the intended major is computer science in LSA college, but I also know the major on the application is now changed to “undeclared” because the first year in LSA you can’t declare a major. So my question is, when my son is able to declare a major at sophomore, will he be able to declare Computer Science as his major without any problem?

@restAllgreen If he completed the necessary PreRecs, it won’t be a problem at all.

@Tyzs13 what university? I will be attending Eastern Michigan University’s honors college of i don’t get into umich and that school (EMU as a whole not the HC) has an AWFUL reputation so I understand but I’m a legacy there but yeah i’m a little scared if I have to end up going there for polisci lol

@restAllgreen its my concèrn too. Though already got into honors what to do for CS from undeclared.

@UofMorMSU thanks! If so, is it easy to pass those PreReqs in the first year? what’s the requirement, GPA 3.0 or above?

@rangersfan800 - Here’s a tip. My wife and I went to a tiny little school in Western New York after being rejected from our top choices. I ended up getting my dream job, she ended up at an Ivy law school, we have two wonderful children and live a fun, comfortable life. It’ll sting, but ultimately it’s about you, not about where you go.
