Omg that’s actually so true. If I had gotten rejected I probably wouldn’t have come on this to say so or tell people unless they actually asked. So far I know about 10 people at my school who are deferred and about 10 who got accepted as well, I know of no one that has gotten denied personally though
Waiting another 38 minutes or so for admissions even though it’s more probable they’ll come out tomorrow midnight… what I do for U of M even though I have to wake up at 5:30 am every day for school.
I get to sleep in tmw for a little because I am going on a personal visit at my second choice (pretty much safety) school! They actually care about me and want me haha, we’ll see UMich…
I have no link to my deferral letter and never did. Anyone else not have a link?
@scubadiverman Same with me.
Ever think of all those kids who apply to University of Michigan as a safety school to their Ivy school application? They have always said April, yes it got pushed to early April but really they said April all along. Decision day is March 31st for Ivy schools, which means all those who applied will accept then dump their application to University of Michigan allowing our highly qualified kids a chance to go to their dream school.
It’s genius if you think about it…they wait because the kids who they say yes really do wanna attend = better yield.
Not really genius because those who are accepted to Ivies are not going to jump on the MI website and withdraw. And they don’t have to decide until 5/1. It’s just not their priority and the are not thinking that way.
The other school to defer my son - Villanova - has kindly posted a message on its application portal saying that all admissions decisions will be released today after 5:00 p.m. How about a little love like that UM?
EVERYONE GET OUT MY BEST FRIEND GOT IN CoE not deferred tho…RD:// can they start paying attention to those that are deferred -_-
Did they defer everyone that wasn’t accepted did they reject anyone early
How will we find out? Email?
The next live chat for admitted students is Tuesday, March 28th… Do you guys think they will release more decisions before then?
Yea my friend got accepted into LSA yesterday from RD…
This is honestly so frustrating already
I am certain that UM is running a system where they have their shoe-ins, their maybes, and their rejects. Then flipping a coin basically on the maybes. People I know personally who were on the lower echelon got in while others who are getting into Harvard etc are getting rejected
I know this is a little “off-track” but a friend of my D’s a few years back (35 ACT, 3.93, you get the idea) was accepted to Cornell Georgetown, Notre Dame but was denied to University of Rhode Island (not sure why she applied). My point is they KNEW she would never attend and did not want to waste an acceptance. Schools play the game (UM it seems more than most). My opinion - do away with the common app and it will lead to students truly applying to schools they are interested in and colleges not playing games with yield.
wow for anyone discouraged by your LOCI reply, here was mine:
Thank you for your email and for the updated information.
This was my second one… my first one was :
On behalf of our Director Erica Sanders and myself I thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan, please be assured that it will be noted in my evaluation of your application. The University received a record breaking 32,500 early action applications this year, so admission was very competitive. Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine if we have space for you in the freshman class. Please submit your 1st semester senior year grades so they can be considered as we continue to assess your application, but other than that there is nothing further we need from you at this time. As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you in early April. Again, admission to the University of Michigan is the most competitive it has ever been this year, so although I encourage all deferred students to keep the University of Michigan as an option, I would also encourage you to explore the other opportunities available to you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns.
not looking great for me.
@college11010 I got basically the exact same letter twice and so did my friend. I think it’s just standard protocol and best not to read too much into it.

Sooooooo does anyone think some decisions will come out tonight
