When do we think the next wave is? any guesses?
Maybe midnight. Who knows at this point though
if nothing tonight, I would guess last week of feb/first week of march
@GoBlueWolverine It’s not about feeling personally attacked, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. This application and waiting process has felt so impersonal that it has made me question whether or not jumping through all of these monotonous hoops is even worth it. I totally understand that UMich is a public university with crazy amounts of applications, but this extended waiting game and seemingly being treated only as a statistic just to pay the university $10,000+ (assuming one is accepted) in tuition every year is extremely unappealing. At least a personal attack indicates some level of effort or interest aside from just barely browsing through numbers on an application. Even my LOCI response was impersonal. The least they could have done was type in the application number I provided and briefly glanced at my profile (was thanked for submitting semester one grades even though I hadn’t sent them). If they’re not going to give me the time of day, why should I put in all of this effort and get worked up over the university?
Hey guys I was just wondering whether this was the good or the bad deferral letter?
"Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review. An official communication will be sent to your email address on file.
While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, your application remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early April, 2017.
Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward them when they become available. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. Please refer to the website https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2080 for FAQ?s about the admission process and what to do next.
We hope your interest in Michigan continues. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year."
Should I be worried?
For those who had to send in 7th semester grades, when did your school send them and when did wolverine access say that received them? I just want to know how long it took for it to go through. My school said they were sent Wednesday but WA doesn’t say they have them yet.
My daughter was deferred in Dec. I went back to look at last year thread it did seem like a lot more ppl got in on that first round. Anyone agree? Also she is kinesiology anyone deferred from kinesiology get in?
Thx!!
My counselor submitted my transcript on Jan 27 and it’s still not updated on my wolverine access I am very concerned as to why they have not received it yet
Literally like everybody got that deferral letter lol there’s no good or bad one
So I’m assuming we have a few weeks until the next wave?
I got admitted today. I found out via wolverines access. I had no idea I would hear back this early. I’m still waiting for a decision from Ross, but I’m so excited that I got in! Best of luck to you all
Why is everyone upset at Michigan? They haven’t lied about anything, information and admissions have come earlier than what they said. Going off of previous years is what is making you guys get so let down. They said by April, and decisions are rolling out 2 months early.
@kourtorder They’re just unresponsive and secretive about the process.
@UofMorMSU I agree with the unresponsive part, but I don’t think they’re being all that secretive, you know? They haven’t missed any deadlines or anything, but I understand waiting can be miserable
I’m with you @kourtorder. While I get the stress of it all, I don’t understand why anyone is upset with the University. They have a process and they have let everyone know what that process is. If an answer comes out sooner than lucky day for the person who hears sooner.
@kourtorder They’ve been secretive in that we all know that they do rolling admissions but they’re secretive in when decisions are released and how they’re released.
Lets face it, the waiting is absolutely awful. Honestly though, they are trying to get them out in batches earlier than april, so that’s good. Lets just try and keep our heads up and hope for decisions (especially positive ones) in the next batch
I’m officially the only one of all my friends to not get in…hopefully I will hear back in the next wave but I’m just feeling a little hopeless at this point
@soprano2017 ugh I’m sorry. A lot of us are in the same boat with you. All we can do is have hope though, as emotionally draining as this whole thing is
Anyone have any idea when the next round of letters is going to come out?
