@TheShortSon It’s just an email. They send it to a lot of LSA accepted students. I got one when I got in earlier. Don’t worry!
Anyone have guesses on when the next wave is?
I got accepted to the College of Engineering yesterday. 31 ACT, 4.63W, 4.0UW, strong leadership positions, dad went there. I did not send a LOCI but I did send my semester grades.
A message to everyone waiting: try to be calm as much as possible! I am a parent and take some words of advice: I know MANY successful happy people who went to schools most of you have never heard of and Ivy Leaguers who can’t seem to find happiness and keep tripping through life - without finding joy - or themselves. Being 17 is HARD I know but you will all be better off if you find real value in what makes YOU HAPPY not what a nameless admissions officer thinks of you. As hard as it is try to remember that those things that make very good schools like Michigan want to take a second look and other very good schools accept you will make you successful anywhere you go in life. The drive to do well in HS will serve you well. But, as you can tell from all these “boards” there are many 30+ACT 3.8+ GPA students. More importantly, along the way take time to make a difference. And, to quote Thoreau: “advance confidently in the direction of your dreams” Finally, stop checking your Wolverine account every 30 minutes and enjoy the day! You won’t get a chance at 2/10/2017 again; there are no “do-overs”. Words of advice from a parent who has been there!
I’m waiting to hear back from UChicago ED-II. I’m legacy there. The wait is excruciating. Good luck to all the UMich applicants!
I sent my transcript exactly two weeks ago and they still haven’t gotten it
@TheShortSon
the same as you.
@vicangie you’re a legacy applicant?
@uofm21 nobody here works at admissions. If you are worried about your transcript call the school. It’s the best way to know for sure. Mine was submitted and recorded in 2 days but at this point I’m sure 2 weeks is not uncommon. Please do not hesitate to contact the school, better than to wait 2 weeks and find out they never got it. Always better to be safe than sorry! :-B
just got an email saying my Ross BBA Preferred Admission application is being reviewed now. Anyone else get it?
My D just got in to Engineering after being deferred. I suppose that I extend a bit of credit to this board. She is a strong OOS applicant. Though lots of great applicants get deferred, we were a bit surprised by her deferral (no disrespect to any other deferees – she got deferred elsewhere, as well). On a CC discussion, someone informed us of ‘Regional Counselors’ – and how strong OOS applicants might get deferred if the school is not certain that the student is truly interested and has not expressed interest via the 'RC’s. As such, she sent an email to her RC after the new year – and just got an acceptance yesterday. Could be unrelated – but I am thinking that the school might shelve strong applicants until they hear a declared level of interest. Very pleased to get the acceptance. Go Blue !!
@Engineering2021 Same here. I didn’t even need to send my mid year grades. I think my LOCI really helped.
I just found out after calling admissions that my counselor did not submit my transcript properly… Do u think that now my chances of getting in are a lot smaller because now they won’t have my transcript until later than everyone else?
I got admission from berkely today so i am not waiting for um admission any more because I am not in stste . international applicant.
@vicangie So you’re a Michigan resident whose going to Berkeley?
@UofMorMSU
sorry wrong words… out of state…
i’m a legacy and still havent heard back. is it safe to assume that i didnt get in
@renwa it is not safe to assume that you did not get in. They have until April 1 to let you know either way so what you need to do is be patient. Hard I know, but your lack of hearing doesn’t mean anything other than you haven’t heard yet.
So how much do you think letters of recommendation matter? Not ones from teachers but rather ones that are from people who were/are high ups at michigan or like big donors to the school?
So I’m gonna put this out there. UMich has it’s system. If we are good enough to apply or even let’s say borderline it’s safe to say they have their way of doing things and when there is no transparency (in reality none of them do share) is difficult and we are all nervous. I don’t think a LOCI or mid-year grades matter at this point. If YOU think they do then by all means send them in and certainly the longer we wait for a decision I would send them in. WHY? Well here’s why, never do anything you regret. Put your best foot forward. Don’t look back and think I should have done it. In the end does it matter??? We will never know but won’t it feel good when the decision comes out either way and YOU know you did everything you could to help your cause?
That’s my opinion and I wish I could take the pain and stress away but hey at 17 a little stress is good right? (ok seriously I hate stressing) Have a great weekend everyone! :x
