will they say something even in case of denial, or just in case of acceptance?
I just got an email as a reply to one I sent earlier about my interest in the school because I was deferred. My admissions counselor said I had a recalculated gpa of 3.5 and some bs and a c and a act of 28 which isn’t very competeive. At the end she said to keep other schools in mind too. Is this basically a rejection? The letter was so cold and highly undermined my actually performance in school. I’m confused.
@michiganb If you look in the previous parts of the thread, you’ll find that a lot of people got the “keep other schools in mind” thing. It’s not necessarily a rejection.
Can you post the full response here?
@UofMorMSU They said unfortunately w ur recalitaled gpa of 3.5 w Bs and a C in your academic work during 10th and 11th grade and your act of 28 made you less competitive during early action. Then she gave me the stats of the average gpa and everything at the school
@michiganb Gotcha
@michiganb just be prepared for the rejection and you’ll be pleasantly surprised if you get in. Do you have other schools in mind? UMich might not be a good fit for you and there are plenty of other schools out there. Where else have you applied?
@jeepcherokee what do you mean? If you get denied it will be on Wolverine and in an email.
This is right on the website.
At this point everyone is together EA and RD. Decisions will be made by April. If you find out earlier awesome, if not don’t read into it either way.
How will I be notified of my admission decision?
Early Action decisions will be released no later than December 24th; Regular review decisions are released in April.
We appreciate your patience as we prepare to release admissions decisions. Please know that we are unable to give decisions over the phone; therefore, it will be your responsibility to monitor your email account for your decision.
ALL admissions decisions will be sent via email from Michigan.Admissions@umich.edu or UA-Admissions@umich.edu with the subject line “Your University of Michigan Admissions Decision.” Please add these email addresses to your safe list so that your decision does not go to your junk or spam folder. Decisions will be released to the email address you provided on your application. If you need to update your contact information, you may do so yourself through the New & Prospective Student link in Wolverine Access.
Applicants who have been admitted will also receive paper correspondence. We will send your admissions decision to the address you provided in your application; if you have provided a current address, we will send the decision there. If you have only included a permanent address, that is where your decision will be sent.
There are three possible decisions an applicant may receive: admit, defer, or deny. All decisions will be viewable on a link labeled “View Decision” on the application status link of your New & Prospective Student Portal. Defer means your application requires additional consideration.
Wow. Is UMich a really good school?
Umm. Are you for real @TheShortSon ?
@TheShortSon Lmao. I may be biased but imo Michigan is tied as the best public university with Berkeley.
I really hope I get in. The worst part is honestly the waiting. I am a legacy with both grandparents going there and a brother currently enrolled. I have a 4.006 weighted and a 3.93 unweighted. My test scores aren’t very impressive 28 act 1290 sat (660 reading 630 math). Strong extracurriculars, 2 varsity sports and DECA international finalist. I applied to LSA so i feel like i have a better chance as opposed to engineering.
@Alex18Schultz How were your essays. I feel like those play a huge role.
They were really good I feel. My parents and language arts teachers helped me edit them. I did the topic about the transition from childhood to adulthood when I spoke at my great grandmothers funeral and the reaction of my family members to the speech
Tbh I’m not gonna get in but I still watch this thread for humor. I think I have like a 3.4 with no weight lol. It’s funny to see everyone freaking out with like 3.8’s
When this college has been your life goal such as mine simmilar to many people on here. knowing your acceptance is out of your hands and nothing is guaranteed is unbearable.
@Alex18Schultz Yeah I feel you. I think you’re in a great position to get in though so don’t worry. At this point nothing you can really do, just enjoy the last few months of high school. Hope to see next year if I end up attending Michigan!
I know two people that were deferred that were accepted on Thursday. Basically, if you were deffered you could hear back anytime from Today until April.
Also, does anyone know if emails are sent out on weekends?
@ivanl6 Michigan is a really good school, but it depends on what ranking you look at. The overall Best Colleges ranking ranks U-M in the 27th place… U.Va and UCLA are tied for 24th and Berkeley is 20th. In general, they’re all around the same level and really good schools. I’d say the most important factor to consider (at least, for me personally) is whether one’s in-state or not (it saves sooo much money!).
@ivanl6 @Straightoutta7 Wow. I can’t believe I got in. Realization keeps hitting me.
