Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

@U-MFAN Exactly the same for me.

Yeah I had that letter too. I am like a 3.6 and a 1360 on the new SAT. How about you @U-MFAN

Did anyone else who was deferred from the college of engineering receive an interview invitation?

@scubadiverman @U-MFAN Was yours the one that said

"Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review. An official communication will be sent to your email address on file.

While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, your application remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early April, 2017.

Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward them when they become available. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. Please refer to the website https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2080 for FAQ?s about the admission process and what to do next.

We hope your interest in Michigan continues. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year."

Or no?

Yeah I got an interview for HAIL

"Thank you for your freshman application to the University of Michigan. After an initial individualized and comprehensive review of your application, we have determined that we will need additional information in order to make a final decision. We will not re-evaluate your application file until after our regular decision deadline of February 1, 2017. We need this additional information and time to ensure that we give your application the best possible review. We will notify you of a final decision on your application by early April.

The quality of grades earned in academic courses is one of several critical factors taken into consideration in evaluating a student’s competitive admissibility. To give your application a final evaluation, we will need your fall semester or first trimester grades. Because it is important that we receive these grades as soon as possible, please request to have a PDF of your grades sent from the issuing institution to our office via an e-transcript vendor or to ecredentials@umich.edu. If your counselor sent the initial School Report for your application through The Common Application online portal, they will need to complete the 2016-2017 MidYear Report using the same method. Otherwise, please ask your high school counselor to fax a report of these grades to our office at 734-936-0740.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Michigan and look forward to receiving the information requested. If you have specific follow-up questions, please visit https://umich.custhelp.com or phone 734-764-7433. We look forward to reviewing your completed application and appreciate your interest in the University of Michigan."

@amarz12 Didn’t everyone kinda decide that that was the less-good one because it said that they won’t re-evaluate grades until after February 1?

@amarz12 @UofMorMSU Mine was the same as amarz12.

But then I am confused since someone earlier said that they applied RD and were already accepted.

They said april so don’t get mad if it is not before then.

@maylightxo I did the interview before being deferred

I am not expecting to get any response until April. If I get one before, great. If not, its cool.

Hey guys, new to college confidential and I just have a couple of questions:
1.) What does “LOCI” stand for?
2.) For those accepted, did it state your acceptance under “view decision” or via email? Currently when I click on “view decision” it has my deferral letter.
3.) I know the first wave of admitted EA students that were previously deferred came out, when do you guys think the second wave is going to come out?
4.) How much of a factor do we think 1st semester grades are?

Sorry for all the questions. Any responses are appreciated, thank you.

@russellwestbr00k 1) Letter of continued interest
2) My decision was under view decision and I received an email later that day
3) I was admitted first wave after being deferred. I am assuming either this Friday or next Friday. However, UMichigan is very random this year.
4) I did not send mid year grades even though UMich asked for them in deferral letter. I only submitted LOCI. However, Mid Year grades should only help if you improved or did the same.

I hope I answered your questions and good luck!

Should I be worried that my 7th semester grades haven’t been sent yet? I asked my counselor about it around two weeks ago, but still nothing. My deferral letter didn’t specifically ask for the grades, but I feel that without them my application is pretty weak & i probably don’t have the best chances of getting in. But is there a chance that they would reevaluate my application before they’re sent and it could hurt my chances? Ive been assuming they wouldn’t, but for some reason I’ve gotten myself spontaneously paranoid over it lol

Thank you @TheShortSon !

@emilybv Don’t worry. I was admitted without sending mid year grades. I just sent a loci to my regional admissions counselor. If yours aren’t ready on time, you won’t be penalized.

@FireMonkey thank you for clarifying. @Seacoast This might sound stupid, but was that sarcasm or can I actually reboot something? If so, how? Sorry if thats a super dumb question, but its honestly hard to tell over text. @jjjjjj14 I’m OOS and applied to engineering

Can someone tell me my chances? I don’t want to get my hopes up that I’ll get in if it’s unrealistic
