Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

@scubadiverman just wait… u hav sent ur loci today… wait… hang on thr… if not this week then next week …

nothing for me… Do you guys have any stats for international applicants?

@USUG21 Thanks. I hope the LOCI helps!!

good news for anyone?

Sorry I needed to calm down. Was accepted at exactly midnight. Received the “good” deferral letter and sent a LOCI January 2nd with a generic, automated response the following day. ACT: 30 GPA: 3.94 UW IS LSA. View Decision link went away around 5:30. The president of my school called on my behalf once she heard I was deferred to recommend me to UMich so that might’ve helped. Legacy. Good ECs. Let me know if you have any questions! My brain is kind of scrambled right now.

@jjjjjj14 Congratulations.

did you guys send the LOCI to the admissions office or to the regional counsellor? and where can I find my regional counsellor’s email address?

@jjjjjj14 could you post the response to your LOCI?

Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan. Please be assured that it will be noted in my evaluation of your application. The University received a record breaking 32,500+ early action applications this year, so admission was very competitive. Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine if we have space for you in the freshman class.

Please submit your 1st semester senior year grades so they can be considered as we continue to assess your application. As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you in early April.

Again, admission to the University of Michigan is the most competitive it has ever been this year, so although I encourage all deferred students to keep the University of Michigan as an option, I would also encourage you to explore the other opportunities available to you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns.

@UofMorMSU My daughter received almost the same LOCI responses and was accepted to COE last week. I wouldn’t read too much into the “bad” designation. I will say that she did get some good advice from her guidance counselor to address some of her accomplishments in the LOCI. Don’t assume that the regional counselor has seen your first semester grades even if your application file indicates that they have been received. It was a little out of my daughter’s comfort zone to toot her own horn but she’s a well qualified student that might have otherwise been overlooked in an avalanche of applications. Make sure you get the consideration you deserve and best of luck!

@RelocatedYankee Thanks! Yeah I’ve made sure my admissions officers know who I am, and I sent a second LoCI after my semester grades were sent, saying how good my first semester was. I live close to the Detroit admissions office (where my officers work), so I’ve done an event there to try to interact with them a bit. So far, it hasn’t paid off lol.

so view decision link has to be disappeared before new decision comes out?

@APJunkie24 On behalf of our Director Erica Sanders and myself I thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan. Please be assured that it has been noted in my evaluation of your application. The University received a record breaking 32,500 early action freshmen applications this year, so admission is still very competitive. Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine if we have space for you in the freshman class. Please submit your 1st semester senior year grades so they can be considered as we continue to assess your application. Other than that, there is nothing further we need from you at this time and we ask you do not send any additional materials.

As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you in early April and appreciate your patience as you await a final decision. Again, admission to the University of Michigan is the most competitive it has ever been this year, so although I encourage all deferred students to keep the University of Michigan as an option, I would also encourage you to explore the other opportunities available to you.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns.

I sent this to my regional admissions counselor who had visited my school and given us her email.

@jjjjjj14 That definitely goes against my theory since it doesn’t say anything about you being a “strong candidate” or anything. I guess that’s good, because now everyone knows that you can still get in with a response like that. @UofMorMSU seems like you might have hope after all!

Thank you for this information. I will copy it to your file. This is all I got from sending LOCI to my regional counselor

@APJunkie24 Wow you’re a savage lmao

@UofMorMSU Oh no I just looked at the wording and I definitely didn’t mean to come across as vicious! It’s just more proof that we can’t rely on anything we get from the admissions office until we get our decision.

@APJunkie24 Honestly it’s all good, embrace the savagery

@APJunkie24 and @UofMorMSU…you guys are keeping me sane. Link, no link, good letter, bad letter, LOCI, never sent grades…it’s enough to send us to the University of Illinois (movie reference). Just kidding!
Keep the posts coming the more good news the better. I am asking my Dean tomorrow to make a call from my school, I figure it can’t hurt. OOS is so difficult. I look at some of the accepted IS and my stats are so much higher it’s very frustrating. But then I know something must be different so I sit and wait with the rest of you! [-O<

I understand where you’re coming from but that kind of hurts my feelings. I have a 31 ACT and a 3.75 GPA so no, I may not have the highest stats. But you have to keep in mind that people like me were literally born at the U of M hospital, grew up in homes that bleed maize and blue, and many people I go to school with cannot afford to go to an out of state college with similar academic oppurtunity. Please realize there’s a reason that they’re a little easier on us in-staters. I’m waiting (deferred) just like everyone else. @Seacoast
