@Ivywannabee Maybe your attitude came through in your essays?
No one is “entitled” to an acceptance. Frankly, your stats are very good but not any better than thousands and thousands of other kids, most of whom haven’t had parents shelling out thousands of dollars for a “college counselor”.
Time to breathe, eat a little humble pie, and be thankful for what you have. Clearly you have been blessed in many ways.
Godspeed.
To the rest of you (and my own S), keep the faith and good luck!
any idea how long it should take for 7th semester grades to be received & appear on WA? I know mine were sent last Friday, but it still doesn’t say they were received, is that a normal amount of time? (my counselor sent them directly by email if that would somehow affect things.)
@KeepPerspective I think that Ivywannabee needs a lesson in humility. Being a jerk is never gonna get him/her anywhere in life. This is as good of a place as any to teach someone a (well needed and much deservèd) lesson. Ivywannabee doesn’t need any luck for Michigan, he’s obviously gonna get into ivies. Michigan is beneath him.
@emilybv It should be 2 working days from time the were sent. Also, why didn’t your counselor just go straight through the common app to update your transcripts?
I applied to COE with less competitive credentials so my chances of getting in are very slim…does anyone think it’s possible to switch my application to LSA this late?
@llm8915 even if you did switch to lsa its a hassle to transfer to engineering don’t try to go the “easy” way in. if you cannot get into umich engineering, there are other great engineering schools like uiuc, purdue, etc and they have much cheaper tuition.
@UofMorMSU I’m not really sure. I know my regular counselor told me that she would do it over common app a while ago, but never did; but last Friday our specific college counselor emailed me & everyone else who had gotten deferred specifically from Umich & said that she had sent them over email because Parchment wasn’t updated.
bottom line: we are all hoping for friday but if not we are still waiting until april 1. I think it would make sense for them to send out some EA deferred results before the hard deadline bc we have all been waiting so long but hey if i hear anytime before april 1 i will be happy
so I’m almost 100% that I didn’t get into umich (from reading all the stats on this thread :’))) but it’s been a hell of a ride! checking WA, this thread, and my email EVERYDAY since my deferral. I was honestly shocked I didn’t get rejected but instead deferred but I really do wish that umich didn’t just defer everyone even though they didn’t have a chance in the first place I would much rather here about my rejection earlier on than later I wish everyone well tho! no matter the result I hope we all end up where we fit in best
The most irritating thing regarding to college stuff is wait forever even for rejection. Colleges need to be considerate so that students can prepare for other opportunities. ughhhhhhhhhhh so frustrating
I just want to add a little comment and am asking if anyone else on this thread thinks the same thing as me!
Many people complain about UMich “not being fair” or “releasing decisions too late,” but compare UMich to other colleges. If you think about it, most other colleges come out with decisions towards the end of March and UMich has already released two rounds of acceptances. The fact that they released results in February is already really shocking to me. And many people also complain that they “don’t have enough time to look at other opportunities,” but what about the colleges that come out with decisions on March 30? They literally give you a MONTH to research more about the schools and compare the opportunities presented per college. A MONTH. I believe that UMich’s approach to releasing decisions is great because they begin releasing in February and continue through the end of March – Different than almost any other mid-tier school. Decisions for ALL your colleges will be out within the next 32 DAYS, so just keep hope and know that you will all get into the college you were meant to end up at! If you think about it, 32 days is not long at all! I keep thinking about that number and I find it crazy that we started senior year off excited/nervous about the CommonApp prompts, excited/nervous for application deadlines, and now we are close to being excited/nervous to FINALLY receive our decisions! Remember 32 DAYS and we will ALL know where we will be attending! Well, at least know where we could possibly attend! Hang in there guys!
@DreamforIvy Imma kindly roast you a bit here. Basically, the fact that they’re only releasing acceptances right now is unfair. Each released batch just slowly drains the life and hope of acceptance bit by bit. They should either do full rolling admissions, give specific times for release, or just release them on April 1st. Instead, they say that all decisions will be released by mid-late April. That could be just a week or two to decide. There’s nothing to suggest that all decisions will be out by March 30th. There’s a sense of deceit within this specific admissions process, and that’s where our thought processes are.
There’s no need to defend Michigan. We literally paid them to wait. They can bite me right now.
