Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

My brother got into michigan with a 28 ACT and a 3.0. ^^speaks to the good fit thing.

^ My brother got in with a 29 (less than 1300) and I got deferred with a 1430. Granted his GPA is higher than.

and he applied fairly recently. And with a week long high school out of school suspension. He must have been an excellent fit somehow lol. But you know what, he is graduating as one of the top of his major inside the CoE.

People are already finding out their admission decision from a deferred application?? (Fall 2017)

Can somebody fill me in like you guys think the admission decision will come out Wednesday at midnight or Thursday? What makes you think that? It’s been a month since Feb 1st, and there are different pools of admission decision releases?

Last year if u go throuhh the deferral thtead EA of 2020 u ll find that bunch of ppl were accepted on 12th march early morning when most of the ppl myst be sleeping. Means 11th march was second friday and on that night results were released. After rhat results were released last day of march .

Guys I have a quick question; my friend who was deferred for EA recently committed. I asked her when she heard back and she got the acceptance 2-3 weeks ago during one of our snow days. That leaves about two to three people including myself from my school who still haven’t heard back.

Does this mean that they will no longer accept anyone from my school?
Thanks!

Also, I applied to LSA with a major in the statistics department. My numbers both gpa and test scores are slightly below the numbers they want; is Statistics department a really difficult major/department at LSA?

Thanks again

Also, @jihyun89 No it doesn’t mean that they won’t accept you. Also, stats is probably hard.

I asked the admissions counselor for my school and she said major doesn’t make a difference - only the school you applied to.

What do you guys make of the fact that seemingly 90+% of deferred acceptances have been OOS? Do you guys think that it’s primarily going to be In-State now or are they just admitting more OOS students or what?

@UofMorMSU I think that most in state people were accepted december early action and lots of oos were deferred because of low yield issues and not being able to predict if the oos were treating umich as a safety. now oos are slowly being accepted once they send in their letter of continued interest. also, 5 times more oos people apply than in state, so more oos ppl will be accepted than in state.

@Eeeee127 I agree that more in state people were accepted (not by much though, maybe 3000 accepted total). However, more in-state people get accepted than OOS, as it has been in every year in the past (around 55% are in-state). It just seems strange that practically everyone who was accepted off of a deferral was OOS.

Is it a good idea to send a letter of continued interest? If so, how should I? like send an actual letter in the mail?

@jxtxun It’s like wayyyyyy late. You still can, just send an email to your regional counselor.

Will they deny me because I didn’t send anything?? @UofMorMSU

I don’t know who my regional counselor is @UofMorMSU

I wouldn’t say they accepted most in-state people in December. One kid from my school (and there’s three very deserving kids ) got accepted in December and everyone was blown away one of them didn’t get in. (Above 4.0, lots of AP, some ECs and a 35)

But I would agree that a lot of OOS people have been accepted thus far, the kid I previously mentioned was accepted about 3 weeks ago, however.
