Deferred, what should I do after

So i got the deferral letter 2 days ago.I dont know what to do now.
I am a legal resident of Michigan but the admission office considers me as an OOS. I sent in my residency application too and i was told that a decision wont be made till 12 weeks later.
Also, i just came to US last year from China.
GPA: 3.85 UW
ACT: 26 (34 on math and 27 on english)
Classes:5 AP senior yr, all honors in junior yr
EC: NHS, Link Crew, Civil action league, varsity soccer team, many hours…

I applied to LSA and now i got deferred, i m wondering whether or not to send in my 7th semester’s grades since it wont be outstanding( probably 1c and rest of them are As and Bs).
I heard that it was easier to apply to CoE than LSA, is that true though?
PS: can i still apply to CoE at this time? And, can i make an appeal?

The whole residency thing will hopefully be cleared up soon, but i hope you are considered instate! But since you just came for China and have only been in Michigan for year, i don’t know if they will consider you instate.

Your GPA is a match for LSA, but your ACT is low even if you were considered instate. You should send your 7th semester’s grades if UofM wants them or if they are good. You should try to retake the ACT.

LSA is generally easier to get than COE especially if you are male. Females have great chances in both. COE for guys require a higher GPA, you have the requirement for the high math ACT score. LSA requires a generally lower GPA and a more spreadout ACT score.

Same this happened to me. Lived in michigan all my life and because i did some summer programs at georgetown university and u of chicago they deemed me OOS. hopefully the residency status changes before the re-review my app and that will play a role in getting me in.
