deferree letter: "will" or "would"?

i’ve finished my letter, but before i send it i have one nagging question: is it presumptuous to use “will” instead of “would” in my letter when describing how yale would be for me? like “I will enjoy the great courses, I will make many friends” etc.

i know i got to send it quickly now!

i say **** it and do what you want.

I mean, if you think you deserve to get accepted enough, then put the will… and even if you don’t think you actually will be admitted, do it anyway. It’s stronger.

I WOULD finish it up and I WOULD send it as soon as possible.

Don’t let some minor detail delay you - send the darn thing!

Maybe try the woodchuck test: How much wood will a woodchuck chuck…

“would” sounds better. Amen, worknp.

yep, sending it today, overnight mail! (though in international terms its two to three days)

so it IS presumptuous to use “will” huh? i thought “will” makes it sound more convincing or persuasive in some subliminal manner. perhaps ive been listening to too many campaign speeches. i.e. “WHEN i am President…”

I personally would use will; it sounds better to me because it shows confidence.
