Define URM...

Ok so my dad is hispanic (half nicaraguan, half puerto rican) and my mom is white (half irish, half italian) so on all my applications I always “check all that apply” which generally means checking off caucasian, puerto rican, and “other hispanic (please specify)”

Will I still be considered a URM even though I also checked off caucasian?

Haha, I have a good buddy like you: he identifies himself as a Puerto Rican, but he has light-white skin and blazing red hair. We like to joke that he’s not PR at all, and he’s really 100 percent Irish.

It definitely helped him, and it will help you.

n.b. that Yale will still hold you to very high standards, though.

Sad, that it helps.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Yes. If you marked Hispanic in any combination you will be considered as a URM candidate.
