Degree decisions

I am not sure what degree is the best for me! As for my career, I know I want to work on a film set. And at the university I’m going into as a freshman this fall, there is a major program that allows me to pick 3 minors as my major, called multidisciplinary studies – MDS Degree program, for those who want a more individualized college degree for their career. I picked theater, theater production, and sociology(could change to studio art). I’m confused on my decision though, I’m not sure what will work best for film. If something else would be better? And the problem is with this, universities I might transfer to in the future will not have this degree option. I’m still confused if I won’t be happy with my choice in the future. Is there a website or comment that can help me choose what I specifically want to do?

There’s this degree called Cinema/ Film & Media Studies. Look at it

To work on film set in what capacity?
Pre-production?
Production?
Post-production?

The absolute majority of people working on the set have nothing to do with actual filming.
99.99% of people in film industry are not directors or producers (especially famous  )

Set designers, set decorators can have degree in theatre production.
Casting is related to theatre.

Have you ever tried to work on a film set? For free, as volunteer, PA or something? Just to try what this is all about.

If it’s production (actual filming) you have to have really good health and be able to work 14-15 h shifts. 8 hours for sleep, 1 hour for shower, changing clothes etc, the rest is work. Several weeks straight. Often outside, in any weather.

Same is especially true for post-production as well. Honestly, @pallavijaniani plop in a DVD, skip to the end credits, then go through them frame by grame. There are HUNDREDS of jobs. Check out the ones that sound interesting.

@digmedia I think your comment was addressed to ya ya

Actually, it should have been addressed to @katherine2020
