Delaware Class of 2020 Acceptances

@tsixe121 - You can disagree all you’d like. In my eyes, this is all about opportunity cost. If you wait until U of D finally gets to back you in late May, then you’ve lost the opportunity to attend another institution. Very low chance (if any) that U of D will admit even one wait listed applicant for Fall 2016. Again, I’m not complaining, those are simple facts. Given the history of U of D admissions to drag their feet for 16-25 weeks (when they tell you 8-12 weeks for a response), maybe you’ll have to wait until June or July before they finally provide a waitlist response. Onward and upward. Good luck if you continue to wait, just don’t hold your breath.

I received an acceptance into Honors on April 7th. Has anyone who received the honors deferral till mid march heard back yet? A lot of people I know haven’t.

Anyone know if there’s a UD facebook group for parents?

@chocohol - I see one called UD Parents - I just joined it. It only has 14 members though… and another University of Delaware Parents (31 members)

Anyone know where most freshman dorms are located at UD?

@mmsharp Most freshmen are housed on East campus. Some are also housed in Ray Street

Received email today: notice of acceptance Fall 2016 Newark campus, and I was on the wait list!

Congrats. It is good to see UD will be taking students in off the waitlist. Where you OOS? What is your major? Do you plan to attend?

Hey @Bethechange2016 thats great to hear. Im also on the waitlist but sadly have not received a notice yet.
After being accepted off waitlist are you going to go to Udel? And what are yours grades and test scores like. I just would like to know to compare to my self.

Will not be attending Delaware. I was accepted into the Lerner Business School, which I never applied to nor have any interest in. My application was for International Relations or second choice Psychology. Guess they just needed to fill slots in the business school at this point. And no, I don’t want to accept then switch over to my major of choice. Also, no financial aid offered.

For parents on the list - it seems that the University of Delaware parents Facebook group (which only has 30 members) no longer has any administrators to approve new members, so I created a new group. There are only two of us at the moment, so come on over! It’s just a place to ask one another for advice, share what we’ve learned, etc. I belong to the Penn State Parents group for my older daughter, and it’s been invaluable over the last two years! Here’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/490289294503216/

@Chocohol, would you mind providing the name of that Facebook group? (The above link isn’t working) I tried to search for the group, and found one with 9 members…Not sure if it’s the right one. Thanks so much!

@mblmomof3 sure! It’s UDel Parents. There are only three of us at the moment!

well thought I was done with college boards at this point but looking for some quick advice. My son is going to UD in the Fall but we are concerned. He will graduate no problem but his final transcript will show in his senior year that he dropped Computer Science AP (which is not considered major subject - typically a minor although one full credit due to AP status) and now he failed Statistics AP (got a 64, passing is 65). He will have As in history and German IV (honors) and mid Bs in English and Science - Anatomy. My question - should we just wait and see or be proactive and call UD admissions now to get ahead of this and show some responsibility etc etc. As far as math courses go - he already completed more than the typical student who takes precalc trig their senior year… he had calculus as well…Just getting all sorts of mixed opinions and did not get any solid advice from his counseling staff at school yet. Seems some schools only care if they graduate and others will care. Will UD ?

@mmsharp I wouldn’t worry too much. what is his major? I’ve only seen a very few situations where a school retracts their acceptance. Those situations happened where a kids blew his whole senior year… barely passing any classes and really did not have a transcript that mirrored who the student presented themselves at application time. UD admissions know AP classes are tough… essentially this class was an “above and beyond” class since it is not a requirement for graduation, (or admission for that matter!) If he is in a very rigorous major like Chem E perhaps you may want to check with them… was the dropped class in the fall? If so UD already knows about that due to mid year transcripts.

Thanks @lefty1 I am laying awake at night! So frustrated at some of my son’s decisions for sure but your comments definitely help. He applied for Computer Engineering (but he has been rethinking this anyway) and he was accepted to University Studies. So I am doubly worried that they were already concerned that he didn’t have the stats for that major. He dropped the Comp Sci AP course before the end of the second quarter in January. Although our schools policy won’t show it as dropped - but an automatic grade of 60. He just could not mesh with the teacher and in the class of 11 most already new Java and he was always lost! But hopefully being undeclared will help. Thanks!

@mmsharp the funny thing about the “laying awake at night…” It always seems to me those of us that do that… are the ones that truly don’t have to! lol… had a good friend who had some NCAA scholarship issues with her child’s transcript… she was a mess… I looked at it and said… “ok… so a few blips… but you are more than FINE” she’s a dot your “i’s” and cross your “t’s” gal… but in the end it was all fine and not even an issue. I wouldn’t worry one bit. Best of luck to your son! My oldest graduated in May but luckily I still have two more years with my son who will be entering Jr year. It’s a great school.

Thank you @lefty1 Feeling better! This is my first to graduate - 2 more in high school- getting sad thinking he is leaving but looking forward to relaxing this summer!

Hi! Just curious how did u make out with UD? Did u ever get accepted and off their waitlist?
