Delaware Class of 2020 Acceptances

My Sons portal was updated today with an acceptance!!! Time to make a decision!!

@hunt827 Congrats! To which major was he accepted and when did he submit his application?

My daughter received her yellow envelope in the mail yesterday, but her portal hasn’t been updated with an acceptance. Is this normal? I am just wondering if she does receive any merit awards how would she be notified.

@playfulpuppy - I am curious too - For my sone the portal was updated on 2/15 with acceptance but have not received any envelope in the mail yet. Also no merit awards appear to be in the portal. I did email admissions about the merit awards but I think they misunderstood and told me - "Financial aid awards for incoming students have not been produced yet, though that information is normally available by mid-March. Students and families who have completed FAFSA for the 2016-2017 year will received information at that point. "

@mmsharp I wonder if the different colleges have anything to do with how the notifications are sent? Or it could be as simple as the existence of a backlog at the time of acceptance? My daughters portal was just updated with her acceptance within the last hour.

My son’s portal just updated! He was accepted finally! Just waiting on the final 2 schools. Good luck to those still waiting.

Still waiting here…

@SAL SRL He applied Undeclared and his application was completed end of October I believe.

@playfulpuppy My son was notified via the portal but he did not receive anything in the mail yet. I also called about Merit awards and they told me it could take 2-3 weeks to show up on the portal.

Got my decision today, denied from my first choice major, Nursing, but accepted for Medical Diagnostics. Seeing as I want to be a nurse, and have already been accepted to PSU’s program, I will most likely not be attending UDel. Disappointing since I thought my stats were good enough, but I guess not.

My D’s portal was updated this morning with her acceptance. She also received her yellow envelope in the mail today. Waited 13 weeks!! She is so excited!!

Hi, everyone! I received my decision around 6 pm today. I did not receive an email (yet); just had to check the application status religiously. I was accepted to the honors program under my first choice major (Mathematics). My app was deemed complete on January 4th; SAT 2120 (740 math, 630 CR, 750 writing); GPA 4.20/4.0; top 5% ranking. I hope this info helps, wishing everyone good luck with all their college decisions!!!

My daughter was also accepted into UD nursing and the honor’s college. She received acceptances to many other nursing programs, but UD is her first choice. Many of the programs were competitive and seemed to offer many of the same opportunities. What’s drawing her to UD was that it provided many clinical opportunities that are not too far from the university. The clinical experience also begins earlier than some of the other programs we saw. The facilities included many hospital simulator rooms. The campus is beautiful and the Main Street that runs through campus provides the students access to many conveniences.

My daughter’s application status page no longer has the change major and schedule a visit options showing - does that mean a decision is coming soon?

@Chocohol The same thing happened to my S. Must have happened sometime after 8:30 am today. Hoping it means something! We’ve been waiting 14 weeks with no contact at all…

Did anyone else who has not received their decision yet have their portal status page change again?

Same portal change for my D. Waiting 14 weeks with no communication. Applied as Fashion major. Hoping for good news soon.

D3 is an IS applicant for Fashion Merchandising, too. Perhaps their applications are being reviewed by the Fashion Dept. and are hung up there. We are at week 15 and still waiting to hear from UD. Her stats are good, 2130 SAT 3.9u/w GPA.

At this point, she is planning to attend Temple as a marketing major. They put on a very impressive accepted students day last month. It is so very disappointing to be in state and left hanging for so long. She heard form the 7 other schools she applied to long ago, accepted to all with lots of merit, including full tuition at Temple with (2)$4K stipends, which she plans to use for fashion related internships/travel abroad.

Even if she gets accepted into UD’s Fashion program, she will not likely get offered much, if any merit, and it will be one of the most expensive schools on her list. As the weeks drag on, the love for UD’s program has all but evaporated.

Wondering how many other fashion merchandise applicants have not heard anything from UD. Your daughter stats are impressive AND very happy to hear she has had so many wonderful offers. Sounds like you have a great plan for her future. My D has many lovely offers and she is exploring them all very seriously now and moving away from UD due to their lack of communication.

Wow, I can’t believe how long everyone’s been waiting! My OS daughter is 12 weeks as of Friday. She’s also been accepted at Temple, but has her heart set on Delaware.
