“choose to belong to a religion associated with terrorism” ****s sake are you actually this prejudiced are or you just dense?

should we associate all christians with catholic and protestant terrorists in Ireland? maybe every christian should be considered a potential abortion clinic bomber?

how much of it is really up to choice anyway? if you’re born in Saudi Arabia or Syria, chances are you’re born into Islam.

at any rate Islamic Terrorism has very little to do with Islamic teaching and a great deal to do with the pernicious legacy of Western imperialism coupled with the present day poverty of many Arabic countries, as well as the fact that most of these states are ruled by authoritarian dictators who encourage anti-Western sentiment to deflect attention from their own regimes.

but yeah let’s ignore these quibbles and just arrest anyone wearing a turban.

and as an aside it often is racial discrimination rather than religious… you don’t see white or african muslims being persecuted with anywhere near the same intensity given to their brown-skinned brethren.

You’re right in that most people don’t originally choose their religion, that they’re raised to follow a particular religion. But unlike race, gender and homosexuality, they CAN choose to abandon the religion, reject its principles, and believe in something else or nothing at all.

People are saying that most Muslims aren’t terrorists, but aren’t most of the terrorists we’ve seen in mainstream media Muslims or Islamists?

I think airport security certainly should be profiling people. I don’t doubt that they currently do it anyways. Problem is, everybody whines when an ethnic person is selected for a screening, even if it legitimately is random.

Some people believe that homosexuals choose to be that way, and you can have a sex change. Just saying, ANYTHING about a person can be “changed.”

Ok first of all, they were searched twice. I mean how would they possibly be a danger to the plane if they were searched repeatedly. As you know it, “Muslims”, come in all shapes and sizes and colors. And even if you were white and had a name like Mohamed, you would have a hard time in security. From this, I can accurately say that this prejudice is not from looks, but religion. What many Americans are ignorant about is the true message in Islam. The word terrorist automatically refers to someone Muslim. Americans (especially white middle class) are so stricken by the propaganda shown on television that they become clueless to what a terrorist really looks like. And this is a TRUE word of advise to you all that have fallen under this propaganda (you all agreeing with the pilots actions), terrorism can come from anyone. Matter fact, Osama bin ladin can actually use this prejudice as an advantage by striking a terrorist attack with someone who fits the opposite stereotypes of a terrorist.(using a Christian white male with a name like john) yes! I can say that something like that would be possible. Point is, anyone can be a terrorist and everyone should be on the watchlist and not only Muslims. the Pilot was ignorant in my eyes.

I hate reverse racism. Everyone sees a muslim get pulled off a plane and they get an immediate hard on. “…OMG, CONTROVERSY…CONTROVERSY.” If the pilot didn’t feel comfortable with any of the passengers on board then that’s tough ****. You don’t know how thorough Delta’s search was so who knows if they were carrying anything.

There was no reason for the pilot to feel uncomfortable unless he was racist since they were searched twice. And spydersix, are you actually serious? we don’t know if the search was thorough… ?? They were double checked in an airport due to the possibility of being terrorist, I don’t think it was possible for them to be searched more thoroughly. In my opinion, I think these young men deserve a public apology from Delta airlines, and the pilot must be suspended to discourage future pilots to act so prejudice and racist.

Yeah I agree. Maybe make them wear some sort of badge so they’re more easily recognizable. Or just imprison them. Better yet, exterminate them. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!

^ Exactly. What were the terrorists wearing on 9/11? Regular clothes. Why? They were trying to blend in and didn’t want to attract any attention.
