Delta SkyMiles

Before I contact customer service (ugh), I thought I’d ask here. I had signed up fir this once before and haven’t really been paying attention.

Do I have to provide my # when I make a reservation online to get the miles, or is it automatically given.

Do I get credit for all members of my family since it’s on my CC, or just for me? If it’s individual, then I need to move DH’s to him.

It’s best to provide your Delta # when making the reservation, but if you didn’t, you will need to provide your flight info and you will be able to get credit for it.
Miles are earned by the Member who is flying (whose name and SkyMiles number are listed on the ticket) regardless of who purchased the flight. I believe 5 miles per $spent. So if you bought for family members, they should all have their own Delta #.

However if you’ve used a Delta credit card, you will earn 3 miles per $spent on others tickets.

Enter it when making your reservation, if possible. I made the mistake of trying to add it later and it was really difficult. The gate agent claimed she couldn’t do it. I went to the Delta counter and that woman couldn’t find my number and when another woman helped her find it, she couldn’t figure out how to add it to my reservation. I spent way too much time on it.

Thanks…sounds like I messed up and it’s going to be a little hassle.

I don’t know specifically about Delta but my other airlines usually allow adding info on line after the reservation is done as long as it is not too close to departure. Look up your reservation number and see if you can add to flyer information.

If you are booking your reservation on the Delta site, you should have your Skymiles number attached to your profile. If you have not set this up, go ahead and do so and try to add your flight to your profile. Did you book with a 3rd party site?

I believe most airlines have you enter your FF number during the reservation if you are not logged into your own account; like if you were booking for yourself and another person on the same reservation. You should be able to get Delta to add it to your ticket; just give them a call prior to flight time.

Just saw the Delta ad with what they are calling “new launch offers”
They have 3 Amex cards, and the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card is the lowest level card, free first year, $99 after that, and you get a 60,000 mile bonus (after spending $2000 in 3 months) + 10,000 miles after you renew in 1 yr and presumably pay the $99 fee. That’s attractive. I am going to check the availability of Delta flights from CLT (which is an American Airlines hub) and perhaps apply.

@NJres - see the thread on the Delta AmEx Cards. Fees went up yesterday. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/2171830-changes-to-the-delta-amex-credit-card-fees-and-benefits-any-experts-here.html

@conmama - doesn’t matter who pays for the ticket- the miles go to the passenger’s sky miles # . Call CS and get the skymiles #s on your tickets, but ask them to link your reservations if you can.

Thanks @jym626 !
