Excuse me, but what percentage of American- or Caribbean-born people of (rarely exclusively) African descent lack a slaveholder or five in their family trees? This is among the most dog-bites-man non-news stories ever.

If what you mean to say is that this is a story which, in itself, has no substance, I agree.

As for political substance. Watch it grow.

B. H. Obama’s roots in the Black American community are of particular if boorish interest to many leaders in the Black American community (dog-bites man) and this is already being played by the political camps…on the Democrat side.

for instance Strom Thormand’s family owned slaves and his attitudes aren’t that far removed from his past, while Obama’s attitude is very far removed from his families past

If Thormand had not done everything he could to fight against civil rights, than it matters not what his ancestors did with regards to a person today, but as much is the same, well

As for Obama, I can bet you many families these days had ancestors who owned slaves, sad to say, but I judge a person on how they live today and what they have done in their lifetimes

The people making hay of Obama’s mixed background are not who DPX wants it to be…though she herself seems to find it so important

I think the key point is not really how far removed Obama is from his slave-owning ancestors, but also how far removed his mother was, since she fell in love with a black man and had the courage to marry him, back when it was not even as accepted as it may be today.

And speaking as someone who studies genealogy, believe me when I say there are very few people in this country who want to be tagged to the beliefs of their ggggggrandparents.

The B.Sun story duly mentioned that two other presidential hopefuls, John McCain, and John Edwards, are also descended from slave owners. I can’t imagine that any Democratic campaigners will see any political capital in this whatsoever. It’s a minor footnote at best. Now, I can see the Rush fans and right-wing bloggers obsessing over it in an attempt to create something out of nothing. That, apparently, has already started.

this is the table talk of the left, not the right.
It’s all over the left. Now, even a few beloved blogs have noticed. But in this case it is merely an echo of the liberal echo-chamber where in they let the public over hear. That is why I posted one of the main source from the left-leaning (falling all over itself-stumbling drunk on…talk about leaning) MSM.

You do, no doubt, have access to google…it is at your fingertips.

HRH has people on the case even as we speak.

please share with us the talk shows you are referring to…I listen everyday to on on NPR and they are curious about this so-called debate about Obama being black enough that seems to be being spread by certain people

IF Its all over the left, in want context, madame, because I listen to the radio and talk shows all the time and I hear nothing like what you claim

you are reporting something I don’t think you have even heard yourself

What I do hear is right wing claiming it is an issue among black people…hmmmmmm

I do not listen to am radio. If I listen to talk radio at all it is always Public radio which is, as you know, dominated by liberal views and hosts. Tavis SMiley, for one.

But this has been covered more than enough by the MSM, even for those who do not own radios.
