I didn’t listen last night, so don’t know which schools Jeff Selingo was talking about. IME Selingo is good about answering emails, so if you contact him, I think there’s a good chance he engages with you. I will chime in with one example based on my experience…Cornell (some schools, don’t @ me peeps ) considers DI, but the CDS says they don’t.
CDSs are often not accurate. Many admissions departments are not involved with filling them out. CDSs are not required and are not checked by any group/authority, so take everything on that report with a grain of salt. Your student can ask their admissions officer if demonstrated interest is part of the admission decision.
