Demonstrating Interest or Just Plain Obnoxious?

First off, I love Washington University. So knowing that they are really big on showing interest, I want to do all that I can. (That seems to be a common theme among all WashU applicants, but I just thought I’d establish that…)

I’ve heard people say that its helpful to call/email your WUSTL admissions officer, to remind them how excited you are about applying. But where to draw the line between demonstrating interest, and just plain obnoxious?

For example, in my activities section on my common app (I submitted about two weeks ago), I noted that my debate record. Well this past week I won both of my debate’s at this months tournament so now my record is even better. Is it worth it to email my adcom telling her this, or might that fall into the Obnoxious Category?

Thanks for the input!

depends what your overall record is… like 40-5 or 15-15… if you have a lot of debates already then i dont 2 more will be significant

The line is - " a significant or substantial change in your status". Interest is good and some contact is also good - as long as you don’t make a pest of yourself. Just use common sense when deciding how often to contact.
